Asher watched as she gently caressed the green leaves of whatever flower they belonged to. He had no clue about these things; all he knew was that his pack grew them to be sold to the territories and villages around the woods. He didn't care much about this business, but watching Luna walk through the aisles of plants made him fall dangerously hard for her. She had a way of carrying herself when she felt comfortable, with light steps and a mesmerizing sway to her hips. She reminded him of a fairy, the kind he had imagined in human form. Long golden locks cascaded down her back, her dress swaying softly as she moved forward. He wouldn't be surprised if she grew wings and flew away, leaving him heartbroken.
"Ash?" his brother's voice echoed in his head, causing him to tense up. He kept his eyes on Luna, but she didn't seem to notice. Perhaps she couldn't hear them now. "Is she listening?"
"I don't think so. Why? What's going on?"
"I called Bella. She's here now. Annie is with her, and she's annoying as hell. She was with Bella and, of course, she knows about Luna. She wants to meet her."
"Okay. Is that all?"
"No. Be careful. The rogue wolf has been spotted again, very close to our borders. I doubt he would make it anywhere near you, but still, better safe than sorry."
"Should we send someone out there to check it out?"
"He messed me up. No. We're not sending anyone out there. We'll just keep an eye on him. If he enters our territory, you and I need to take care of it. Where are you guys right now?"
"In the gardens. She seems happy out here. I'll make sure we get home soon."
"You don't need me, by any chance? Please?"
Ash chuckled at his brother's need to escape Annie's burning questions. "I'm sorry, but no, we're fine. Besides, didn't you have her to yourself last night?"
"No?"
"I know you did," he mentally rolled his eyes. "She's coming back. See you in a bit." And with that, he cut the link to his brother, wondering if Luna would say anything about overhearing their conversation.
"I love this place," she said, wrapping her arms around his neck. So, she hadn't heard them. He needed to figure out how that worked. Not that he planned on keeping secrets from her, but there were some things she didn't need to know right away, or unfiltered, especially when they were discussing her.
"I can see that," he smiled, wrapping his arms around her and pulling her closer. "You know, you don't have to work here, right? Your place could be by our side."
"Doing Alpha stuff?"
"Yes," he laughed at her wrinkled nose, feeling an overwhelming desire to kiss her.
"No," she shook her head, "don't get me wrong, I know what you do is important, but I don't want to be involved in decision-making around here. I'm good at this, at making things grow."
"You can make this pack grow."
"Grow?" she frowned, a spark of disappointment stabbing her chest. Had he already figured it out? Did he know about her abilities and how they could benefit his pack?
"Hm," he hummed, gently guiding her a few steps backward until her thighs hit the greenhouse table. "Maybe add a few members," he pushed his hand into her hair, holding her in place.
"What?" she didn't understand. What was he saying?
"Pups. I'm talking about pups," he chuckled and kissed her. He wanted pups with her? Why did that surprise her? Besides the fact that an Alpha needed a mate to calm his beast, he needed her to create an heir. Someone he could pass his pack down to when the time came, just as his father had passed the pack down to him and Aiden. She had never thought about it, about starting a family. She never saw herself as a mother. However, she had nurtured and cared for all kinds of animals until they were strong enough to leave. Maybe deep down, she had a nurturing instinct, but the thought of her children carrying the same burdens as she did left a bitter taste in her mouth.
Asher pushed his hand up her thigh, lifting it to his hip, so he could be as close to her as possible. The way he kissed her, make her want to forget about all the what-ifs. She just wanted to let go of that stupidly fickle construct that people liked to call the future. The thing that scared her the most.
His lips trailed down her neck and he tilted her head back to give him better access. She was pretty sure that there were at least four people in this greenhouse before, but they seemed to have vanished. Did he tell them to leave?
“I want to mark you so badly,” the way his lips moved against the spot under her ear tickled, “I want to complete this bond, Luna. I want you to commit!”
“Now?”
“No,” she kissed her lips, “but soon. Aiden wants the same thing. It’s something we need to do together.”
“The three of us?” she asked hesitantly all thoughts of her troublesome future blown away by the promise of having both of her mates again. Of them having their way with her. Maybe she’d be tied up again. Maybe… she moaned softly at the thought of what they could do to her. Moaned as he rocked his hips against her, his jeans rubbing against her damp panties.
“Would you like that, little mate?” he groaned against her parted lips.
“Yes. I would like that,” her tongue darted out to lick his lower lip, hoping he would respond by kissing her again. Long and deep. Soft, yet demanding.
His hand slid further up her thigh, making her dress ride up along with it, “it’s settled then,” he stated brushing his fingers over her underwear, “but right now-,” he continued and let go of her so he could undo his fly and pull down his pants enough for his e*rection to spring free. “-you’re mine.”
He pulled her panties to the side, while she instinctively leaned back against the table behind her, knocking over a few plants as she slid her hands back to steady herself. Her legs spread for him. This bond was turning her into an insatiable fiend, but she didn’t mind. She wanted it. She needed them and deep down she knew that one day she would carry their children. Unlike her, they would have a home. A pack. A pack that might not be controlled by the council.
Asher stepped closer, the tip of him at her core. “Please,” she whispered as he hesitated. Watching her closely, his eyes dark, but filled with something she could only describe as love.
He leaned forward, caging her in with his arms as he slowly eased into her. Her head fell back at the sweet sensation. Her lips parted in a relieved breath. Her need for him was bigger than she could have ever imagined.
“You feel like heaven too,” he groaned, kissing her throat, his tongue licking up to the point he would mark her, “always so ready for me. So soft and tight. You’re perfect, Luna.”
She put on hand on his neck for support and because she wanted to hold on to him in some way. She was well aware that they acted like lust-crazed animals around each other. First in the cell, the night before with Aiden, and now in this greenhouse with Asher. She wasn’t sure if there was anything wrong with it. It didn’t feel that way, yet she knew she wanted the night they would mark her to be different. She wanted it to be less a spur of a moment, but something a little more… romantic.
She knew Asher would understand. He was the gentle type, while Aiden would probably prefer something wild, something a little more primal. Maybe somehow they would find the perfect middle ground.
Luna pulled him down to her, biting his neck, as if she would mark him. He growled, and pushed himself deep inside her, making her moan against his skin. “You are mine!” she whispered into his ear, the way the twins liked to tell her who she belonged to. But it worked both ways.
“Yes,” he agreed and leaned back to look at her, “I am!” He reached around her, to pull her to the edge of the table, tilting her pelvis up, so he could sink in deeper. Her moan was swallowed by the thick, wet air around them. It was making it hard to breathe as he started to move faster, unraveling in the feel of her.
A thin sheen of sweat glistened on her skin, a single drop disappearing between her breasts. He reached up to pull down her dress, exposing her chest to him, so he could lean in and lick it away. To taste her in every way possible.
Lune dug her fingers into his thick hair, pulling him closer until suddenly he went ridged. He stopped moving and for a second there she was sure he stopped breathing too.
“Asher? What-,”
He leaned back, in a stiff, robotic motion. He just let go of her so that she almost fell off the table. Her hand caught on something sharp as she caught herself just in time.
“What… what are you doing?” He wouldn’t answer. He just adjusted his pants, turned around, and walked away.
“What the… Asher?” she yelled after him, but he wouldn’t stop. She looked at her hand, a deep cut in the middle of her palm as she stood there dumbfounded. What the hell was that? Where is he going?
“So, that’s what you’ve been up to lately?” a voice she hadn’t heard in a very long time said. When she turned around, she saw him. It took her a moment to recognize him. To understand what she was seeing and what just happened.
Her eyes widen. The last time she saw him was seven years ago. He grew up. His hair was much shorter, his face seemed sharper too and his eyes gleamed dangerously. He didn’t look anything like the boy she remembered. He looked dangerous.
“Caleb?” his name left her lips in a whisper as blood dripped down her fingers, leaving little splatters on the dirty floor. Silence hung heavy in the air as she stared at her brother and he glared back at her in disapproval.
