|Javier| “I can’t believe you're already married, Vier! Ni hindi mo man lang kami inimbita ng dad mo!” may pagtatampo sa boses ni mom ng makapasok kami ng bahay. Katherine was still outside since she had an important call to answer. Nauna na kaming pumasok sa loob. I wanted to wait for her but hearing my mother’s complaints made me follow her and dad inside. When my mother headed toward the living area and my father followed, alam kong hihintayin namin doon si Katherine. Kaya imbes na maupo katulad nila, I stood behind the sofa across them. “Magpapakasal rin naman kami ulit, mom,” I made an excuse para itigil na niya ang topic. My father glanced at me as soon as he sat beside Mom. “I just married her right away dahil baka…makatakas pa sakin,” then I smirked. I saw dad reflecting the smirk on my lips before he glanced at mom. “Magpapakasal naman daw pala ulit. Doon na lang tayo bumawi,” dad said as he caressed mom’s back gently. Kinausap naman siya ni dad habang as I took out my phone inside my pocket. Clearly, it's not my secretary since I have strictly told him I can’t be disturbed today, kahit pa work-related ang dahilan. May isang rule kasi si Mom whenever we’re here in the mansion. Never answer, talk about work in front of her, or even answer any work-related calls in front of her dahil naririndi siya. Kapag may sasagutin kang tawag patungkol sa trabaho, you must be out of her sight o makakatikim ka ng sermon niya. But when Gabriel popped up in my mind, hindi ko maiwasang kumpirmahin if siya nga ang tumatawag, especially that he had been trying to reach me earlier when Katherine and I were on our way here. As much as I wanted to answer the call earlier, ayaw ko din namang kausapin siya especially that Katherine is around. I don’t want her to know why I needed the bride in the first place anyway, kaya hindi ko na sinagot ang tawag niya. That’s why, when I saw his name on the screen, my brows furrowed. I immediately ended Gab’s call as I lift my gaze to my parents. “What is it? Is it work?” mom’s eyes squinted in my direction. Umiling kaagad ako. “It’s Gab. May sasabihin daw na importante pero pwede naman naming pag-usapan mamaya, pagkatapos ng breakfast.” I told her. “Oh, Gabriel. It’s been a while since I saw him,” aniya at dahan-dahang tumango. “Well, you can answer that call at baka may importanteng sasabihin ang kaibigan mo,” aniya. I stared at her because of her sudden change of heart. Pero well, as long as it isn’t work-related, hindi nga naman problema sa kanya ang pagsagot ko ng mga tawag. So, I excused myself and stepped out of the house. I looked away and went to the opposite side of where she is as I called Gabriel. After one ring, agad niyang sinagot ang tawag. [“Finally! Sinagot mo na rin ang tawag ko!”] he exclaimed on the other line. I let it that way for a couple of seconds before I put my phone back in my ear. “Anong kailangan mo,” I said coldly to him. But of course, the bastard is oblivious of it. [“Anong ‘anong kailangan ko?’ Nasaan kana?! Tang-ina, huwag mo sabihin sa’kin na nagbago ang isipan mo?”] his voice is so loud on the other line. I could hear the frustration on it. “Pupwede bang huminahon ka? Ang lakas ng boses mo.” I warned. [“Ano? Hindi mo gusto ang babae? Fvck you, Vier! Akala ko ba wala ka nang pakialam kung sino basta aayon sa gusto mong babae—”] “Yes, I clearly told you that.” I hissed as I interrupted what he had to say. I turned around to see Katherine in the distance. [“Ha? The woman I chose is perfect for you, Vier! I clearly reminded she should do and not do after you get married!”] he defended. [“Pero bago iyan, nasaan ka? Ba’t hindi ko sumulpot sa kasal? Napahiya pa ‘yong bride sa kakahintay sa’yo—” My brows furrowed even more. “Ano bang pinagsasabi mo, Gab? I’m already at home. Tapos na ang kasal, kanina pa.” mariin kong sabi. [“Anong tapos na?!”] he exclaimed. I could hear the horror in his voice. “Just like what I have said. Tapos na ang kasal. We’re already here in our ancestral mansion to have breakfast with my parents—” [“Tang-ina! Daniela said hindi ka sumulpot ng kasal! Her witness can testify, even the priest! They’ve been waiting for you at the church for almost an hour! Kaya paanong tapos na ang kasal”] ulit niya. My body froze at what he had revealed. Danie…la? Napatitig ako ng mariin kay…Katherine. Fvck. Teka. Am I thinking it right? “Explain it clearly, Gabriel.” I hissed. “Who’s the woman am I supposed to marry?” tanong ko habang naglalakad patungo sa kung saan si Katherine. I could suddenly feel the heat of frustration rising through my neck to my head. Kung tama ang hinala ko…then… “Daniela Soledad, Vier! Siya ang papakasalan mo!” the he rundown the information he sent to me last night, tungkol sa katauhan ni Daniela at tungkol sa kompanya nilang nangangailangan ng tulong. It was very similar to what I have known, except, I didn’t know the name of my bride last night. “She has been calling me for an hour, earlier! Hindi ko kaagad nasagot dahil busy ako sa shoot ko, Vier. When I managed to call her back, natanong niya if tama ba ang address ng simbahan na binigay ko! She said that the church is being used for the wedding! Nasabi ko sa kanya na hindi pwede dahil ni-reserve ko mismo ang simbahan para sa six-o’clock niyong kasal! Kaya pinuntahan niya at nang witness niya ang kabilang simabahan dahil akala niya, I sent her the wrong info—” “It’s her fvcking fault then, that she came to the wrong church.” I accused. I gritted my teeth as I started walking toward the woman at the distance. “I told you…the fvcking wedding is already done,” I hissed. He gasped in the other line, na para bang ngayon lang rumehistro sa kanya ang sinabi ko. [“Fvck! Sinong babae ang pinakasalan mo, Vier!”] gulantang niyang tanong.
