She talked to the on duty surgeon and told him he could take the rest of the evening off. Grateful, he accepted and left Carrie alone in the surgical unit. She considered calling in Tasha but didn’t want to rob her of her day off. If there was an emergency, she’d have to make due with whoever else was there.
It promised to be a slow evening.
The next thing she did was find Jeff McNabb and look in on him. He looked worse for wear. She hunted down Trevor Pearson, who assured her that while he may have looked terrible, he was completely stable. Carrie didn’t know if she believed him – but she wasn’t his primary doctor. All she’d done is patch him up to the best of her abilities. His fate was out of her hands now.
That thought didn’t put her at ease.
