His men – most of them, anyway – had shown up and kept him company for a few hours the day before. It had helped raise his spirits. Once they’d left, however, his mood had plummeted. It only served to remind him that he needed to get out of the hospital and get back to his own life. With another groan, Alex collapsed back into his bed. He sat there for a few minutes, hand on the handle of his walker, and just hated everything. He swung his legs into bed and laid there, not tired but with nothing else to do. He flipped on the little TV in the corner and watched absently. There was nothing good on, anyway.
