But that hadn’t been entirely true, either. She’d caught glimpse of him once wandering the halls, walking without his walker – he was getting stronger – and she’d ducked into a storeroom to avoid seeing him. As far as she knew, he hadn’t seen her, and she was glad to keep it that way.
She missed their interactions more than anything. She missed Tasha. Carrie felt as if her life was rapidly changing and she didn’t know if it was for the better. She’d taken on a temporary nurse to help her in surgery and some temporary assistants to help with the paperwork. It hadn’t been easy, or fun, so she’d done her best to lose herself in the surgeries.
