Chapter 1 -Thorns and singing vultures
Just a look in her eyes and he wanted to stop dating multiple girls . The sparks in her eyes and her tiny body made him shiver. Her small dark shaded upper lip and purple mixed with pink bottom lip made him go crazy by just a look. A tap on his shoulder brang him back to reality "Sir I'm sorry that I'm late. I promise it will never happen." Her voice Soothing like a puffy pillow. He wanted her to talk all day long and he was then Certainly sure that God is present because with her he took his time. "She was the one for him." "Help! help! someone, please" She screamed out loud taking him out of his thoughts with her squeaky voice . He stood up from his black leather chair and went up to pour himself water. "Sir are you okay? " She asked in a concerned voice. He had a heart condition and whenever he got nervous , he experienced a sharp pain on his chest . The lady ran up to him and placed his hand around her neck for support. she was Shaking and he could smell fear around her. She helped him sit on the two-seated sofa that was near the big window showing the breathtaking view of the city She then ran and took the glass of water that he filled with water and gave him to drink. He pointed at the small container of pills that were on his working table. She rushed to take the container, opened it, and took out one pill. Gave it to him then he gulped it down to end the pain. INTRODUCTION Banele Ndlovu, a 27-year-old guy who owns mansions and businesses. coming from a family of five, four boys and one girl. His parents were one of the most feared people in the country and abroad. tall in height , brown in complexion, had white sharp teeth, and a well-shaved beard with small darkened pink lips, well built with capable hands. ... He woke up, fixed his bed, and opened the curtains. He was met by a , heartwarming, peaking sun, up the sky with the morning breeze heating his lazy, sleepy eyes. He went to take a 30-minute cold shower to fully awake himself. He then went to take a one-hour run. Then came back home and took a quick, warm shower, then prepared himself for the day.He brushed his waves, then took his working stuff and headed downstairs to make himself breakfast. He dished up himself a hot porridge that Mam'Nolwazi prepared. She was his most trusted maid. Well, she was the only person he allowed to prepare him food because he loved traditional food and she knew her way around the kitchen. He finished the porridge, then placed the bowl on the sink hurriedly. The only thing that was running in his mind was that girl at the office. He felt bad that he ruined the chance to know her better. He then took his car keys and opened the trunk, then placed the files that the new girl at the office had to sort out. He opened the driver's door and got in, then placed his laptop bag on the passenger seat, then drove off to work. He found the same girl from the office that helped him , seated at one of the guests ' chairs. He walked up to her and she immediately raised her head and looked at him deep in the eyes. "How long have you been seated here?" "It's been hours." " Why didn't you ask the receptionist to give you my office keys?" He asked , walking away, He tapped the elevator door and it slid open. He stared at the lady as she was still seated on the chair. He let out a sigh, trying to understand if she is Slow-minded or what. " I thought you came here to work." "Yes, I did come here to work." "So are you going to work in that chair?" He said , rolling his eyes. She quickly stood up with embarrassment written on her face. Some of the girls kept laughing. She followed him then got in the elevator to his office. They got in and took a seat on the sofa. The gentleman poured two glasses of whiskey and handed one glass to her. She shook her head multiple times. "What's up?" " I don't drink alcohol, sir." " My bad anyways I'm sorry for talking with you in that manner. The thing is I'm not a soft talker." "If you're not going to apologize without trying to justify your toxic behavior with pathetic reasoning, well, sir I suggest that you keep your apology to yourself. Not to seem rude, but I somehow don't tolerate childish behavior." Words couldn't be made up. Her beauty was of an angel when she was mad. Her venting out her anger made him want to jump up and down in excitement. "I'm sorry. Now, let's start over. My name is Banele and you are?" " Mrs. Mongezi." She was a formal lady, those that like to act hard to get, but there's always a price for stubborn things he thought. "Okay, I have files piled up in my car, trunk. Go and fetch them, then get to work." "How do you expect me to hold a pile of files?" "If you didn't blabber nonsense earlier on, I would have asked someone to Fetch them, but since you seem to have too much energy, How about you put it to good use and fetch them yourself and for a matter of fact that will be good for your well-being" She looked at herself busy turning around like a lunatic. " No, there's nothing wrong with your body or dress code or whatsoever, but there's surely something wrong with your attitude Now do as I instructed you to do. I need those files fixed up today." " but Banele..." "It's Mr Ndlovu now get to work." She left without saying a word. It was now knock off time They took their bags and parted ways . Outside the young lady's husband waited for her . "oh hi honey .came here to pick you up ." "oh yeah I can see that but I didn't ask you to come and pick me up ." " But then I thought it was going to be a romantic gesture , since you're already tired and you can't request an Uber to come and pick you up because it's gonna take longer to get you home." Her husband was Nkosiyabo, a very well-mannered boy on her parents' eyes very respectful, capable of taking care of her and their future family. But to her, he was a different guy. He was an abusive guy, who just saw her as a ticket of money. He was someone who you just couldn't trust with your life. He changed his ways in front of her family, but when they were together, he was just a monster. He said that he had done all the nasty things out of jealousy and coudn't control his emotions, but she knew that, that was one of his useless reasonings to justify his wild actions. Light in complexion, praised by many women. She just couldn't understand how people saw him as the saint out of all men in the world. A little bit tall with bushy eyebrows and big pink lips with a well-shaved beard and cute haircut with veins popping on his arms and a good taste of fashion. They drove to their house, or actually her house. She put in a lot of work to build them a house. She took him as her husband, but he took her as a punching bag. she built a house for them , for their family, but he said all that came from her sleeping with different rich men . A step inside the house brang vivid memories of all the traumatic events that happened to her .She felt like she was being strangled,And was in short of breath. The house suddenly turned into a dark forest and the darkness was crushing, suffocating her. She heard his footsteps coming her direction. She somehow felt like running away and go somewhere to hide. But where was she supposed to hide when she knew very well that he would come after her and kill her? All the threats that he had made to her haunt her to this day. she had nowhere to go. she was stuck with him. He threatened her that if ever she leaves him, he's going to kill her family then come after her . She was somehow stuck with him and had nowhere to go. He slowly touched her back. The weird part was that his touch still had an effect on her body .His touch sent chills down her spine . he turned her around and he leaned in,so carefully.Breathing and their hearts beating between them ,he was close and she couldn't feel her legs anymore .She couldn't feel the darkness of the traumatic house nor the emptiness of the room because all she felt was him. She was thinking of stopping him but why would she ruin this not so amazing chance of them both being happy .If ever she was to stop him he would turn onto the monster he has always been . His lips were softer than anything she had ever known, soft like First snowfall, like bitting into cotton candy, like melting, floating and being weightless in water. The kiss itself was effortlessly sweet . After a long steaming kiss her sweet melodical voice turned into a horse voice . "prepare my food I'll be back" And by that she knew very well what he meant. If she chose not to obey his instructions, she was going to be beaten up till death . She quickly ran upstairs ,placed her shirt down on the floor and rolled her pants and underwear down.As she rolled them off herself she noticed the fresh wounds on her legs Red and green seemed to be rotten due to negligence .She got inside the shower and started scrubbing the dirt out of her body . when she scrubbed her legs it hurt but she had to do it, just so Nkosiyabo could be happy and not punish her. She got out and wrapped a towel around her body and lotioned herself with the most good smelling lotion then wore one of Nkosiyabo's favorite lingerie . red and black that's the perfect combo to put a man in beast mode. Noise came from downstairs. She quickly sprayed cologne on her neck, then went downstairs. She found Nkosiyabo dancing. It took him 2 hours to get back home, and she knew better than to sleep. "Where were you?" She asked, regretting what she had just uttered with her own mouth. A hot slap met her cheek, causing her to lose balance and fall. He came running to where she was laying, breathless, and kicked her multiple times in her tummy. Blood drooled down her chin as it made its way out of her mouth. She couldn't breathe nor defend herself. she was just weak and felt hopeless, ready for death. He threw punches at her face, and she didn't have the strength to block them. she just laid on the floor vomiting blood. After what seemed like forever, he took his bottle of whiskey and went upstairs singing. She slowly got up from the floor with her whole body covered in blood. Her body was sore and seeking medical attention. she took the car keys that were placed on the kitchen counter and drove to the hospital. She was weak and couldn't drive properly. She blinked multiple times and heard a sudden loud noise. She lost control of the steering wheel, and the car flipped up in the air then crashed roughly on the ground. She heard cars honking and an ambulance siren. "Miss, just hold on. We are going to help you. Don't worry." She stayed awake, but couldn't take in all the pain because it was unbearable. she closed her eyes, and that was it for her... She heard unfamiliar voices around her . She tried to open her eyes, but she was too weak to lift them up. she wiggled herself, and that's when flashbacks of what happened hit her. "Help! Help!" she screamed out loud, trying to wiggle herself out of the trauma. She felt hands holding her tight, yet gently. she slowly opened her eyes and was met with a rather handsome face. "You look even more beautiful when awake. So, how are you feeling?" "Don't you think that's a stupid question to ask?" "My bad... You have been in a deep sleep for 4 full days. I'm going to call the nurses to run some tests on you, and then we will see when you will get discharged." "No... No, please. I'm fine here. I don't want to get discharged." "Is there something I should know, ma'am?" "No... When am I going to get discharged?" "Weird... But then, soon after we get the test results." He exited with files in his hand. she sighed, thinking about whether Mr. Ndovu would still take her as his P.A since she didn't let him know about her not coming to work. ... The day she was finally getting out of the humanly hell arrived .She took a shower with the help of a nurse. she wasn't fully recovered, but they were letting her go. she told them that she didn't have any family members nearby, so she will be the one to sign the discharge papers. The nurse that was friendly to her bought her clothes. she asked her for Uber money, and she gave it to her . She got inside the car, and it drove her to Mr. Ndlovu's company. She paid the driver and went to Mr. Ndlovu's office. She was a mess, but she had to let him know about the motor vehicle collision. she had no choice but to do it because she needed the job. She knocked on the office door and immediately got in after being told to. "Mr. Ndlovu..." "Why were you not coming to work these past 4 days? You don't take this job seriously, do you? I didn't expect much from you anyway, so with that being said, I'm giving you your first warning letter." "But sir, I had no control over the accident that occurred." "What are you talking about?" "As you can see, I am a mess. My car crashed, and it's a long story, but please..." "I'm running a business, not a circus. Next time, you should let me know." He said, with his hand extended, holding a brown, long envelope. She snatched it from his hand . She just couldn't understand why he wasn't being sympathetic towards her. It broke her heart knowing very well that shewoill always have to face cruel rules made by men for the rest of her life. She walked to the door in an attempt to leave, but he shouted her name. "Tomorrow at 5:30, I want to see you here in the office working." She nodded and walked out. She then requested an Uber, and it drove her to her house. She was scared, but somehow felt like telling Nkosiyabo to back off and leave her alone to live her life freely, like any other hardworking woman does. She got in, and the smell of the house was ill-scented. she felt like vomiting. she walked around the house, and bottle of booze and ordered food packages were on the floor. "Mbalenhle, u'Phuma kuphi?" - Mbalenhle, where have you been? She got startled a bit after hearing his husky voice. She turned to face him, and he was just a mess. "I asked you a question. Dammit!!" "I was at the hospital." "Since when do you go to the hospital? u'Ngangi hlanyisi doti!" - Don't make me lose it. She swallowed hard, trying her best not to shed a "Since the day my parents introduced you to me.I have never liked you. I have always thought that there was something offish about you, but I put that aside and learned how to love you." "What..." "No, please don't disturb me. When you did yell at me, I would always stay silent, showing respect as your wife. I would hide my face under my thighs every time you talked to me, and I didn't even go out with my friends. I thought that's what it took to make a man happy and stay in a marriage." "You wouldn't dare leave me .No one will ever want someone who is a trash like you." "Somebody's trash is another man's treasure. Now, just because you don't see me as a valuable thing in your life, then it's a loss for you because I'm worth more than you have ever thought. You don't see it, but you will surely realize later that you have lost a dime." She ran upstairs and took out two big suitcases. she neatly packed her clothes inside, then dragged them downstairs. "I'm going to leave you in this house because you don't even have money. Hope you enjoy your life, and you should expect divorce papers in two weeks or so." "I'm never going to sign them." "Then I will see you in court." she dragged her suitcases to the garage and placed them in the boot. she then drove to a nearby hotel. she was just staying there temporarily , As that would buy her some time until she gets herself an apartment. she was just happy that she was finally out of that toxic relationship. She woke up, dragged herself to the en-suite bathroom, and took a shower. she then wore a brown coat, matching it with nude brown heels and white pants. INTRODUCTION Mbalenhle Phato , a cute Xhosa girl who grew up on the streets of Jozi (Johannesburg). 25 years old and have qualifications in accountancy ( an accountant). Not from a poor family nor a rich one, but they can afford their lifestyle. married to Nkosiyabo Phato because her parents saw him as a real gentleman and someone capable of taking care of her and their future children. She then took her bag and headed outside. She got into her car and drove off to a nearby café. she ordered plain donuts with a strong coffee and then drove to work before Mr. Ndlovu arrived. She took his office keys, unlocked the office, and sat down in his chair, feeling the power on her shoulders. She wondered what it would feel like to be the decision-maker of the big company. she twirled in the seat until she felt satisfied. She then started working. The door opened, and she heard someone clearing their throat. "What are you doing in my chair?" She quickly stood up and fixed herself. "I thought..." "Well, you thought wrong, girly. That's my chair, and no one, and I mean no one, sits on it besides me. Understood?" "Understood." She went to sit on the sofa and continued working. she had the laptop up to her eyes, just to avoid eye contact with Mr. Ndlovu. He was a very serious man who didn't tolerate nonsense. "I need you to sort these out for me. I need them in 15 minutes." "Sir, that's very little time for me to finish these. I need an additional 15 minutes." He gave her a death stare and then kept his gaze on his laptop. she did as she was instructed. The paperwork was too much, but she pulled it off. To this day, she still imagines how her life could have been better if she hadn't married Nkosiyabo. - I mean, who would have thought that an A student would end up working as someone's P.A.?- She could have had her own office, typing nonsense on her laptop, checking the bank balances of big companies, and doing what she loved the most: calculating crazy numbers and coming up with solutions to unbalanced financial histories. But there she was , being bossed around by the incredible serious guy. she thought she went to school for a better future, but she thought wrong. "You should take a break because we have a presentation in an hour." she nodded, packed her things, and went to the 1st floor, where she found Nkosiyabo causing drama. "How could he have known that I work here?" She kept asking herself, as nothing made sense. Mr. Ndlovu came from behind, clenching his jaws. Frustration was evident on his face. "Wena Mbalenhle, who do you think you are leaving me? Without me, you are nothing. I made you, and you decide to leave me just like that? wathi Let me just leave him. You just decide to leave me after you've taken all my money." "Yey bafo, this is a business, not a playground. Please, respect this place and leave. You guys can fight at your house. Right now, you are disturbing the workers." Mr. Ndlovu said, with his eyes ready to pop out. "Wena angikhulumi nawe, mina. Awuna bhuti o handsome uk'fana nami. S'dhwede so, mfana." -(I'm not talking to you. You don't have a brother as handsome as me, stupid boy.) Mr. Ndlovu threw a punch right between his eyes, then another on his nose. she heard a crack, and blood started flowing down Nkosiyabo's nose. she felt like rejoicing, but at the same time, she felt bad for him. "Sir, please stop!" she screamed out loud, but he seemed to not care. He kept throwing punches at Nkosiyabo, who was weak. He was drunk and couldn't even lift his hand to throw a punch. She pulled Mr. Ndlovu by his arm. He attempted to throw a punch but then stopped. "And what are you doing?" "Sir, please, you've hurt him enough. Just let him be." "In my office, now! Security, take this guy out of my building and tell the cleaners to clean this mess. As for all the workers, get back to work and stop gossiping." He led the way to his office, and she followed him. He took a pack of ice from his mini fridge, placed it on his red, swollen hands. "Sir, I'm sorry." "You should be. Who the f**k is that man? Why do I even ask such a stupid question? It's obvious that he's your hobo boyfriend. Ms Mongezi , you have to take your work seriously, or I will have to replace you with someone else. Deal with your problems at home. This is a business." "It's actually Mrs., not Ms. Let me help you out." She said, extending her hand to take the ice, but he shifted. "I can do it myself. Now move away from my face." "Ok..." She took her bag and went to her car. she cried for a few minutes, then drove herself to McDonald's to get an Oreo McFlurry to cheer herself up. Break time was over, and she headed back to the office. she found Mr. Ndlovu on his laptop, typing God knows what. she cleared her throat in an attempt to get his attention, but he didn't even look. she sat on the sofa, but something caught her eye: his bruised hand. she walked near his working table, took a chair opposite to where he was seated, and dragged it near him. she went to get packaged ice cubes from the fridge, then sat down besides him then placed his hand on her thigh and gently pressed the ice on his bruised hand. He tried snatching his hand, but she caught it. "Mrs. Mongezi , you are crossing the line. This is unprofessional." "You need help. Stop acting like you don't. If your hand doesn't get treated soon, it's going to get infected. After pressing the ice on your hand, I'm driving you to the hospital." "And who do you think you are, bossing me around? I'm your boss, in case you have forgotten." "And I'm your P.A., I'm responsible for whatever happens to you. All I want is for you to be okay." "Well don't stress yourself. And yes, you are my P.A., not my personal doctor or mother. Stop being a nuisance." "If helping you out means I'm being a nuisance, then so be it." He kept on screaming due to the extreme pain. His eyes went from normal to bloodshot red, with veins revealed. "Ouch, be careful." "I never knew that the mighty Ndlovu could be a baby." "What did you say?" She raised her hands , mocking him. After she was done treating his hand, she put on a bandage on his hand because he resisted the idea of her taking him to the hospital. She honestly didn't know why men were so afraid of hospitals. - I mean not all dead people died in the hands of nurses and doctors; they are just exaggerating.- She then took the medical kit to its rightful place . It was dark outside and she wasn't a late-night driver, it's just not her type of thing. Well, she was scared of ghosts. she believed that they were real, and the last thing that she wanted to see with her own eyes were ghosts or anything else that has to do with the deceased. she walked out of the building with Ndlovu behind her. They were the only people left in the building, well, except for the security guards, as they guarded the building 24/7. she looked at Mr. Ndlovu as he unlocked his car and got in. He then rolled down the window. "Aren't you going home?" "I am... I'm just waiting for an-" "You have a car, moss? So why don't you just drive yourself home?" "Okay, fine. I'm scared of driving this late." He gave her the *Really look*. "Bathong, don't judge. Hau, it's too late for a woman to drive alone , and it's dark. How do you expect me to see?" "You definitely take the trophy of being the most dramatic woman on Earth. And moss, every car has lights. Kanti, eyakho? I Njani?" -How is your car? "You are definitely judging me." "Hop in." she ran to the passenger seat and sat. He looked at her with a horrifying look. "No one sits on the passenger seat. Now excuse yourself and go sit in the back seat." He said, clenching his jaws. she went to the back and made herself comfortable. "So where should I drop you?" "Hotel sky, Sandton." "Kanti don't you have a house? But then, that's none of my business." He drove her to the hotel. she bid him goodbye then walked out of the car. she got in and took a quick shower and ordered some pizza with dunked zinger wings. she then lotioned her body and wore a silk black matching top with pants. she also wore socks and got undercovers. She got a call from the receptionist that her order had arrived. she went to fetch it then dug in. she ate, then slept. Mr .NDLOVU He drove to his house after dropping off Mrs. Mongezi. He parked his car, then walked inside the house and found Mam'Nolwazi already gone, so He went to his en-suite bathroom and took a long hot shower. He wore a white vest with red and blue block pajama pants and blue slippers. He walked to the kitchen and took out the food that was in the food warmer. He ate and left no crumbs. The meal was scrumptious. Traditional food is another way to make a man fall in love with anyone even more. He placed his plate in the sink and went to his library. He took out his laptop and started working on his presentation. His phone then vibrated. The phone call was from Zola Zee , one of his s*x-mates. "Zee." "Hi Banele, I just wanted to check how you've been doing after all these 3 months of ignoring me." "Zee, I'm not really in the mood to argue." "I wasn't trying to argue or something, but why were you ignoring me? Do you have a new girlfriend who pleases you?" "Point of correction, we were just s*x-mates. And even if I did get myself a girlfriend, what does that have to do with you?" "So she made you turn your back on me?" "I have a lot to do. Hope you have a delightful night." He disconnected the call and kept his eyes locked on his laptop. But something caught his attention: her photo on his laptop with her ravishing smile. He had her pictures because she was going to be part of the presentation, so he had her pictures taken . Her body was so divine, like a sacred temple waiting for the powerful priest to find it and worship in it . Her appetizing face, just a look on her face and his stomach is already full due to the scrumptious face well baked with makeup. Not too much, nor too little, but just perfect for him to be full and for her to glow like the star she was. Not to mention her scent, smelling like a goddess. Her scent had to do with the ocean, peaceful yet pleasant. He felt calm and steady when she was around him. A true definition of a soulmate. He somehow felt connected to her. Her afro hair, curly ,thick and dark: Now that's what I call an Africam woman .
