My conversation with Isaac yesterday had kept me in foul mood so I decided to skip school and spend the day in bed.
I just had to make sure I was ready to be at Audrey's house for dinner by 5:00
I spoke to Kate who explained to me that robin and Jacob only had a small fight, they each threw a few punches and Jacob ended up with a busted lip but they were fine with each other again now
Apparently they always fight each other, Kate also said that robin always wins so we agreed with the fact we didn't understand why Jacob even bothered.
I was very happy that we had stocked the freezer with ice cream since it became my best friend today, I very much enjoyed watching Netflix shows with a good tub of ice cream
By 4:00 I found myself getting ready. I wore my blue jeans, a plain white top and my black denim jacket. I also let my dark waves loose down my back.
It took me 30 minutes to get to Audrey's. I didn't mind the walk though, I guess I needed to burn off that ice cream.
I knocked on the blue door of the white coloured house. The house definitely reminded me of the white houses you see on the Christmas movies.
The wooden ones with a massive porch which is decorated with plants and Christmas decorations.
"Hello dear, right on time" she smiled welcoming me in
"Hello Audrey"
"Please make yourself at home Rose, the dinner will be done shortly. Tea?"
"Oh yes please"
I followed her into the kitchen and watched as she happily made the cup of tea. The smile never left her face.
I noticed a picture of a blonde women, I could see some resemblance
"Is this your daughter?" I asked
"Yeah, Claire" she said smile faltering
"Oh I'm sorry, I didn't mean..."
"Oh no it's quite alright. I just haven't seen my daughter in many many years"
"How come?" I found myself asking
She handed me my cup of tea and then gestured for me to follow her in to the living room.
We each sat down the the leather three piece suite.
"During the war, when I was six years old I was evacuated to roseiron. When I said goodbye to my parents before I left...that was the last time I ever seen them" she told me
"I grew up with out my real parents, my father died in the war and mother died from the bombings. I always vowed that when I have children to be a loving parent, I knew what it was like to live without real parents and I wouldn't wish it up on anyone. I just wish my daughter was the same. I thought I brought her up better but when she had her son, she up and left leaving him with me. She never came back. I am so disappointed but I can't help but still love her. She is my only child, my daughter."
"I'm very sorry about your daughter leaving like that. Parenthood isn't for everyone and sometimes people have better lives somewhere else or with someone else. I'm sure you did an amazing job at raising your grandson" I explained
"I sure like to hope so" she smiled
"What's it like? Living a completely new life?" She asked me
"It's...different. I've got to be careful, I have to keep my past hidden and I'm living on the run but I can't help but feel so free. I feel normal and I like it. I've made friends that like me for me, I can walk anywhere with out anyone bothering me but..."
"You wish you didn't have to lie? You wish you didn't have to run away to be free?" Audrey finished for me
"Exactly"
"Do you miss it?"
"In some ways I suppose so yes"
The sound of an engine interrupted us
"That would be my grandson, we can finish this conversation another time"
I nodded agreeing
When Audrey spoke of her grandson I was picturing a small boy she had to babysit. Turns out it's a boy old enough to drive, a boy she brought up and turned in to a man.
"Perfect timing" she called to the door as her grandson walked in
"I've always got good timing gram" replied a voice
It was a voice I would recognise anywhere and I knew it belonged to a boy who would want to murder me as soon as he sees me stood in his living room.
