"There's someone I want you to meet" I heard Audrey tell him
Prepare for impact
He entered the room and when he was me his eyes widened dramatically
"This is Rosalie" she said pointing to me "and this is Isaac" she continued
"Yeah we've met" Isaac replied
"Oh really? How exciting, how do you know each other"
"School" I answered the same time Isaac answered with "our friends date"
"Right" Audrey said looking awkwardly between us
"Anyone I best get the food, please take a seat Rose"
I nodded while Audrey left the room
"This can't be for real" I heard Isaac mutter to himself
"Isaac, I'm sorry I didn't know" I said genuinely
I knew he didn't want me in his life, part of me also wanted to slap him
"I'm going to help" he stated before walking out the room in the same direction as Audrey
I placed my head in my hands and huffed
Audrey just had to be Isaac's grandmother didn't she, out of everyone it had to be him.
It's always him
They both walked in with the food, Audrey placed the plate in front of me and I inhaled the heavenly smell
"It smells delicious" I complimented
"I hope it tastes just as nice" she smiled
I laughed a little at her comment sure that it would also taste nice
"Your quiet tonight" Audrey said to Isaac
I couldn't imagine him being loud or talkative
"I'm just tired" he replied playing with his food that was on the fork
I really had ruined his night didn't I
"How are you liking your new school Rose?" She asked
"Yes i quite like it" I replied
"Everyone is so kind" I added on looking at Isaac who rolled his eyes
"Well that's good, back in my day school was terrible but it's where I met my dear husband so I can't complain"
"High school sweethearts huh?" I smiled at her
"Yes something like that dear" she laughed
I felt that intense stare of Isaac which made me uncomfortable. Even when I looked at him he didn't look away.
Although he wasn't looking at me in an annoyed manor, he also wasn't looking at me with hatred. He was looking at me as if he was deep in thought and I could seen him almost about to break a smile.
I smiled at him then looked back at my food
"My husband Clifford was a real eye catcher, I think that's where Isaac gets it from" she said smiling towards Isaac
I couldn't help but look at him and agree, although he could be a real i***t it would be a lie to say he wasn't attractive. Gorgeous even, perfect.
"He used to take me out on the cutest dates, always made me feel special. I wouldn't have changed a thing about him" she explained
I could tell she was getting sad talking about him. Isaac placed a hand on top of hers and began rubbing her hand with his thumb.
Your secrets safe with me, I won't tell anyone that you have a soft side
The words I spoke to him at the party repeat in my head. I was right, big bad Isaac had a sweet side, he was just unsure of how or when to show it. Maybe he was scared
"Thank you for the food, it was lovely" I told Audrey
"Oh your welcome any time dear, now Isaac why don't you start the washing up. I'm going to head to the little girls room" she giggled then walked upstairs as fast as she could
Isaac picked up the plates then headed to the kitchen. I found myself not wanting to sit here alone. I had no idea why but I found myself wondering in to the kitchen after Isaac.
"I wondered how long it would take you to follow" he said as he carried on washing the dishes
"Not long I guess" I smiled
I leant on the worktop as I watched Isaac, not in a creepy way though
"Your grandmother is lovely" I told him
"She seems to really like you"
"Thank you"
Placing the last dish in the drying rack he quickly turned to face me
"I thought you said you would stay out my life?" He suddenly asked
I looked at my feet sad. Once again he messed up my feelings and I wasn't sure why I even cared
"I'm sorry, I didn't know she was your grandmother otherwise I wouldn't have come. I don't mean to annoy you, I won't come back if that makes you feel better"
He huffed then stood in front of me. I don't know what was up with him wanting to stand directly in front of me
"I don't This is going to work" he said lifting my chin with his gentle hand
"What do you mean?"
"I don't think we can stay out of each other's lives. Gravity keeps pulling us together and quite frankly I don't want to fight you" he told me
"Friends?" I asked
"Sure" he said after a minute of silence
We then heard Audrey descending the stairs so we both walked back in to the main room
"I think I should head home now, it's getting late" I explained
"If Your sure darling, Isaac will drive you home"
"Oh it's no trouble I can manage" I told her
"Come on" Isaac said picking up his car keys
I nodded then thanked and hugged Audrey before once again getting in to Isaac's car.
After yesterday i didn't think I would speak to Isaac again, never mind being in his car again.
"Why wasn't you in school today?" He asked
"Truth or lie?" I offered
"Let's go with both"
"Lie; I wasn't feeling well, truth; I was avoiding you"
I didn't even understand why I told him that when we both just agreed to be friends. Good idea
"I'm sorry, I don't even know why I said those things" he admitted
"It's ok, I get it"
"Can we please forget everything that has happened between us and just start over?" He asked
I found myself thinking of our kiss. I didn't want to forget it
"Of course" I smiled
We soon pulled up in front of my house, for the first time ever I actually wished there was some traffic or just something to make the journey longer
"Thank you"
"Goodnight rose"
"Goodnight Isaac"
