twenty one

I opened the door carefully stepping in as the little bell rang

"Audrey?" I called out

"Oh, hello again" she beamed walking out from the little room

"How are you?" I asked

"I'm doing just great darling, what have you been up to?" She inquired as we each sat down on a chair

"Not much, just teenager things like school"

"Isaac mentioned you all went out the other day, did you have fun"

"Yeah it was really good" I smiled

I found it quite cute how Isaac had told his grandmother who he had been out with, most teenagers are just so secretive

"i'm really glad your friends hes always been a quite closed off person, robin, Lucas and Jacob have always been good friends to him. They are all sweet boys don't you think?"

my mind instantly went back to the first time I had met the boys at shacks when Isaac and Robin came off as really rude. Jacob has always been the same annoying and sarcastic boy.

"oh yes they are" I smiled innocently

"is your friend back yet hun?"

"yes she came back this morning. That's actually what i wanted to talk to you about"

"what can I help with?"

"In four months time I'm returning to Roseiron. Lilly doesn't want to live away from her family anymore. I'm really not sure if im ready to go back. we live for a long time and i don't want to be trapped"

"what makes you trapped?"

"I'm trapped by the rules of my family and trying to be a perfect princess"

"but what is a princess Arabella?"

"a princess is...a daughter of a queen and king"

"a princess is so much more than just that and that is the first thing you have to learn.Everybody's life is full of rules and things they have to abide by. its just the way the world works, you can either hate the truth and run from it or you can face it and deal with it. A princess is a powerful lady, you are a powerful lady. now, belle tell me what a princess becomes"

I was listening intently to every word that Audrey said, she was a smart woman and knew of great things.

"A queen" I answered

"exactly and you dear will be a great queen because you understand the people. if you want change then be the change, don't run from the people that need you most"

I remained silent repeating the words Audrey had said. I was now finally understanding where Isaac got his wisdom from. Each of them where smart with their words and knew how to get their point across. Maybe they were the guidance I needed.

"Thank you Audrey, you are right. I was born a royal for a reason and when I become queen I will lead the people in the correct way"

"I never doubted that you would rule any different"

The bell rang out again signalling someone entering the store, I was glad I could have that talk with Audrey before customers arrived.

"afternoon gram" greeted Isaac

"hello handsome"

"rose" Isaac addressed me

"Isaac" I copied

"do you mind if we have a word" he asked calmly

I couldn't say the same about me though, panic set in

"i'll give you two some space" Audrey piped up

I watched as she wandered off before speaking up

"whats up Isaac?"

"well I thought you might be here so i decided to stop by"

"any particular reason?"

"come out with me rose"

I was sure that was supposed to be a question but it didn't come across that way. It sounded like a demand mixed with plea.

"where"

"just follow me, questions later" he smirked

"okay" I timidly agreed

"bye grams" Isaac said

"goodbye kids" she replied giggling popping her head around the corner

had she been listening this entire time? remind me not to have private conversations when Audrey is around.

"you knew she was listening?" I laughed

"she is always listening, its like she knows everything and its very creepy. even annoying sometimes"

"really? something annoys you? what a big surprise I wouldn't have guessed that anything could have annoyed you Mr sunshine"

"yeah, yeah keep laughing rose"

"seriously now Isaac, what are you up to?"

"what makes you think I'm up to anything?" he asked as we reached his car

"I wont get in until you tell me"

" see rose, the thing is, I don't believe you"

"and why is that?" I questioned as he sat in the car closing the door

he slowly rolled down the passenger window before leaning forward so I could see him better.

"because your a curious little thing" he smirked

I put my weight on one foot and crossed my arms thinking about his words. He was right and he knew he was and I really wanted to remain on this spot but i couldn't do it.

I got into the passenger seat slamming the door. it was only then I realized Isaac hadn't moved back and his face remained close to mine

"told you" he whispered

His voice sent shivers down my spine as goose bumps began to build on my skin but i refused to show how affected I was

"I only got in because I know exactly how stubborn you are"

"ah but stubbornness got me exactly what I wanted" he stated retreating back in to his seat

"which was what?" I asked showing my curious side again

"you" he answered certain as he started the engine acting as if those words didn't mean anything.
