Every sentence she spoke made Sienna's eyes redder and more bloodshot.
"Lucie Donovan! I will kill you!"
She locked her arm tightly around Lucie's neck, picked up a shard of broken glass from the ground, and thrust it violently into Lucie's stomach!
Warm blood spurted out everywhere, terrifying everyone around them into scrambling away.
Lucie clutched her stomach in agony, forcing a faint sound past her throat while reaching a hand weakly toward the person behind her.
"Nikolai... save... save our child..."
Nikolai had just arrived at the scene. Seeing this, his eyes turned bloodshot. He shoved Sienna away with tremendous force.
"Ah!" Caught completely off guard, Sienna fell backward directly onto red-hot embers. Her back was burned severely, flesh searing and peeling away, as she let out a heart-wrenching scream!
She rolled on the ground in unbearable pain.
But Nikolai looked at her with eyes as cold as ice. He picked up Lucie and rushed away without a single glance back.
The surgery lasted for 48 hours.
Lucie had lost too much blood. She died on the operating table, taking both her own life and the life of her unborn child.
Outside the operating room.
Nikolai gripped Sienna's neck so tightly his knuckles turned white, his eyes burning red as he questioned her, "There was an unborn child inside her! How could you be so vicious?!"
Sienna's neck bulged with veins, and the feeling of suffocation grew stronger by the second, yet she was smiling even as tears streamed down her face.
"She stole my fiancé away from me. She indirectly killed my baby when I was two months pregnant. She also ordered someone to set a fire and burn my mother alive... and you dare call me vicious?"
At her words, Nikolai froze suddenly.
He had never seen her like this before. Her eyes were filled with nothing but pain, despair, and total collapse.
Darkness closed in around Sienna's vision. Just as she was about to lose consciousness, Nikolai suddenly loosened his grip.
She fell to the ground gasping for air, struggling to breathe as her vision slowly cleared.
She saw the emotions churning deep within Nikolai's eyes, his expression heavy and conflicted.
"You... were you really pregnant?"
Sienna's eyes were swollen and red. She forced a word out with great difficulty. "Yes."
Nikolai clenched his fists until his knuckles turned pale. He made a call to one of his closest associates in a low, heavy voice.
"Go and verify two things. Find out if Sienna Moretti was actually ever pregnant. And... determine once and for all if the fire at the Moretti estate was deliberately set."
Every second that passed felt endless and agonizing.
A short while later, the associate called back. His tone was casual and careless, lacking any seriousness.
"Man, that woman is still lying to you and using your feelings! There are no medical records showing she was ever pregnant. And the fire at the Moretti place? It was just old wiring and electrical failure. Lucie has loved you for all these years. She was so gentle she wouldn't even step on an ant. Do you really believe she would do something like murder or arson?"
Nikolai ended the call. His expression shifted to pure anger and bitter disappointment, and his voice shook with rage.
"You killed Lucie, and now you dare to slander her with these lies?"
Sienna's eyes were red and tearful as she tried to explain. "I didn't..."
"Even now, you still try to deceive me!" His eyes were red-rimmed, and he suddenly let out a sharp, hollow laugh. "For a moment, I actually wanted to believe you... how ridiculous! Lucie was pure and kind-hearted. Just before she died, she kept telling me over and over not to hate you. How could someone like that ever have killed your mother?"
Hearing the words 'pure and kind-hearted'...
Sienna thought of her mother's tragic end, burned alive, eyes still open in death from the horror of it all. She couldn't help but laugh, though the sound was mixed with tears.
Seeing that she showed absolutely no sign of remorse, Nikolai trembled with fury. He shouted at her, "You stabbed Lucie to death, and now you can actually laugh? Those were two living human lives you took! Fine then. I will make sure you truly understand what it means to wish you were never born!"
The days that followed were like a living nightmare.
He forced her to kneel in front of Lucie's body for three days and three nights without rest.
He personally struck her ninety-nine times with a crowbar. Her body was covered in bleeding wounds, yet he mercilessly shoved her into a pool of disinfectant solution, making her scream in agony as the liquid seeped into every cut.
He punished her by forcing her to slice her own wrists and use her own blood to copy sacred texts to pray for Lucie's soul, continuing until she passed out from blood loss...
When she finally woke up, heavy snow was falling outside the window, covering everything in white.
Sienna stared blankly out the window, her eyes hollow and lifeless, not moving a muscle.
It was the fifth day.
That person, her secret ally, had not found her at their usual meeting spot. He must have realized something was wrong, and by now he would surely be coming with men to rescue her.
Nikolai knew nothing of this. He gently covered her cold hands with his own and spoke softly, "Today is the day Lucie is being laid to rest. You killed her. Later, you will carry her memorial tablet, kneel every five steps, and bow every ten steps to escort her to the cemetery."
Seeing that she remained unresponsive, Nikolai held up his phone right in front of her face. On the screen was a live broadcast. In the footage, dozens of bodyguards surrounded her mother's grave; the coffin had already been pried open and the earth dug away.
Her mother's decayed remains were exposed inside. The men stood ready, holding high whips and axes.
Sienna's heart felt as if it was being torn apart. Her voice trembled uncontrollably. "What do you want?"
Nikolai replied in a calm, flat tone. "I want you to apologize to Lucie personally. If you refuse, my men will whip your mother's corpse nine hundred and ninety-nine times. After that, they will chop the body into pieces and feed it to the wild dogs."
