I stayed by Claire’s door, waiting not-so-patiently for Jake’s Beta Keegan to help gather Claire and her things and wheel her out of here. I wasn’t going to leave until I could see with my own two eyes that vile woman leave this hospital and disappear into the horizon.
With Amelia in this same building, I had to be watchful, and ready for anything.
Claire was a schemer. She could be scheming here too. But I wasn’t going to let her succeed this time. Whatever she was planning, I would protect Amelia to my dying breath.
Damien, clearly not trusting me to remain civil, and for good reason, stayed beside me. We both had our arms crossed, facing the door.
