I didn’t want to upset Amelia, just prepare her for her future. But I hadn’t lied either. The decisions she had made in the past had been questionable at best. Falling for Damien at all had ultimately been the choice that had led her to her present unfortunate circumstance.
Her judgement couldn’t be trusted, so while I would have otherwise applauded her decision to want to become a Healer for children, right now, I wanted her to focus on settling down with Ian and becoming a wife.
Only then, when she was married to someone other than Damien, would she be truly safe from him and the dangers he brought with him. Especially now that he had made all of these concessions to Claire.
