#Chapter 45: Lights Out

1315 Words

Amelia’s POV I wasn’t afraid of the dark, but there was something unnerving about going from clear vision to totally being unable to see. The records room had no windows, so I was left entirely in the dark, with only the small beam of light at the base of the door to guide me towards it. I moved slowly, shuffling my feet more than walking, being careful not to trip. If my pregnancy was going to be hard on me, I wasn’t about to make it any worse than it was by tripping and falling, potentially injuring myself. Since I worked in the records room a lot, I mostly knew where things were to avoid them. I still caught my hip on the corner of the desk, though. I winced. It hurt, but it could have been worse. When I finally reached the door, I found the handle in the dark and tried to turn it.
