My hatred for Claire was visceral. It was her actions that had taken Amelia from me and from her daughter. But, when faced with the pleading faces of her parents, while holding my own daughter, I felt myself soften.
I still hated Claire and always would. But, if she was exiled, she wouldn’t be able to hurt my family anymore.
“Fine,” I said, granting leniency for the sake of her parents and them alone. They had been good members of the pack. Mr. Montgomery had served my father for many years. “Rather than death, she will face exile once the baby is born. But let me clear to you both. If I ever see or hear from her again, that decision will be revoked and her life will be forfeit.”
