Damien’s POV
Back in my office, I was miserable, regretting every mile that took me away from Amelia.
I never should have walked away, allowing her to believe that Claire was my Luna. Even if it meant nothing to her, even if I was still going to leave, I should have cleared the air first. Now, not only had I left her alone, but I had done so with her believing I didn’t see her as my wife.
I couldn’t concentrate on work, but it was my best hope for distraction. After dropping off Claire, I rushed to the Alpha headquarters building and threw myself into paperwork, hoping not to think of anything else.
That didn’t work, of course. The harder I tried not to think of Amelia, the more I did.
Right as my frustration was at its peak and I was about to shove everything on my desk all over the
