We walked into my place to find Charlie lounging on the couch in the living room. “Hey, what are you doing here? I thought you were spending the night with Patty and the kids.” Charlie shot me a disgusted look and growled something about the kids wearing him out and needing some peace and quiet. “But we’re going to be making some, uh, noise tonight.” Charlie sighed and said he’d live with it. Under no circumstances was he going across the street and sleeping at Rick’s. No way. No how. Rick and I shared a look and shrugged. Charlie was old enough to know what he was doing. If we reminded him that he was single, older, and not getting any, then so be it.
