The night is silent
It was a dark night, the moon was covered by a thousand clouds and the only thing you could hear was the clang of the shoes on the metallic platform. The spring wind moved softly through the tall grass and you couldn't really tell that someone was hiding there, just waiting for their pray. "I'm in position" she heard through the airplug in her ear. Someone got the artefact from an old market and, even though it was human, it worked pretty well. "Hold on... let's move according to the plan", she replied and got an "OK" from her accomplices. She looked up to see the moon, still hidden in between the clouds. She knew she didn't need it although she felt so much more powerful with it. Soon enough, the clock marked 12 am, and the workers in the dam were getting ready to do a shift change. The happy voices of the workers leaving for home were all they needed in order to start their plan. Without waiting for a signal, everyone headed into their places. They knew they only had a couple of minutes to activate the plan and, hopefully, didn't get anyone hurt. In the dam, at 12 am, the workers from the afternoon shift would have to go all the way down in order to go into the staff room, let the night staff into the office, get their things, while the night staff would change into their working clothes and leave their belongings in the staff room, before accessing the long steps that would bring them into the high part of the plataform where the plan was taking action, that would give them around 10 minutes to do what they needed. As soon as the workers started to go down the steps, they were positioned right under them, looking up how happily they were going down, just thinking of going home and resting. Using the night as a shield, Bel started to create roots that came up from the earth and took them to the middle part of the platform, easily enough. She waited until everyone was safely there and then the roots became smaller and smaller until they were able to go back onto the earth, leaving just a hole behind them. "We don't have much time" said Rehan. "Let's hope the explosives work". Even though they were young, they knew they were going to need much more than a few explosives in order to blow up the dam, but what they actually needed was just to open a little gap and then the natural force and course of the river would do the rest. Anyway, if the explosives didn't work, then they had Bel. The dam was in the middle of nowhere, even if the explosives would cause a great amount of noise, they were too far away to send reinforcements. The best chance they had, was to place the explosives in the middle part of the wall, where a little c***k was being repaired. Bel stood at the edge of the platform, she started to concentrate as some roots were making their way up from the bottom of the dry river. One of the younger lads, Emyrio, handed the explosives to the roots, "My best job so far" he expressed proudly, and the roots moved away to the almost unnotisable hole in the thick wall. 3...2...1 and a loud explosion was heard all through the woods, birds flew away scared and the men still in the staff room got into panic mode, when the air was cleared out they could see how the hole got bigger but not enough to pierce the wall. "This can't be!" screamed Emyrio in frustration. What they didn't know was that humans had noticed the c***k a few days ago and they were using new materials to reinforce the wall. Bel sighted in anger and immediately climbed onto the handrail, she felt someone was grabbing her wrist "what are you doing?!" Fu'ad screamed, "We don't have time!" Bel screamed back "You need to go down with everyone else, I'll met you back in the forest" "It's too dangerous!" said the boy back to her "There is no time to discuss this" expressed Beleris looking at Fu'ad in the eyes, he felt as something was grabbing him from the arm and his leg, Bel had summoned roots again so they could go back down, and a couple of them were grabbing and pulling him "I'll see you later" said Bel while she concentrated on bringing everyone down, Fu'ad clenched his fists in anger but he knew there was nothing else he could do, just concentrate on helping everyone to go back safely to the meeting point. Bel looked at the c***k in the wall and dimensioned if she shoot a blast onto it she could finally pierce it, she concentrated and green long leaves started to grow and curl around her arm, gaining a pointy shape like a sword. In the distance she could hear some steps on the lower part of the steps. She knew she needed to be fast. When her projectile was ready, she ran along the platform and with the help of her powers, she took a big leap and ended up in the air in front of her aim. She shot her blast. What she didn't know was that behind her, up in the sky, the clouds were moving and as she shot, the moon was shining on her. She felt the sudden rise in her energy and power, and how strong was the blast when she shot it. When she landed, she looked up and saw how the entire wall was broken into pieces. She heard rumbling, the water fiercely breaking free in front of her. "f**k" she said in a loud voice "That was not supposed to happen!".
