CRISIS: WHO AM I?

2403 Words
We spent a few months hanging out on the weekends, playing and seeming happy. A month in London lasted like a century, but at least nothing could separate me from it. Nalla developed in all directions and she was more and more beautiful every day. I accepted the job that was offered to me, even though I had to hide it from her. And I swore there would be no secrets between us. One day we were hit by a tsunami crisis. Returning from the meeting, I found the apartment door unlocked. I knew it was her. She was playing, and the music that filled the apartment was full of sadness. My first thought was that she was mad at me, I just couldn’t figure out why. I walked in on my fingertips not wanting to disturb her. And then I saw her cry. The alarm in my head went off when I saw her tears dripping down the instrument. Nalla watches over her wooden monster. "I need you," she sent a message a few hours earlier, but I couldn't leave the meeting. I stood motionless and confused by the music and its sadness. Is it my fault? What did I do? She paused, but didn't look up. She just sighed heavily and leaned against the cello. She let the bow fall to the floor at her feet. "I see you," she said softly. "You're not a ghost." "Hey, baby ..." I approached slowly. "School's over already?" "I didn't go today ..." she sniffed. "Didn't we say there was no running away from school?" I asked, drawing her closer. "What happened?" "I'm alone ..." she said, hiding under my arms. "I have nobody." "You're talking nonsense. Mom, Dad, sisters, Nona and me. ”I kissed her on the hair. "And how can you be alone?" "Can I stay here tonight?" "Nalla, sweetheart, what's going on?" I led her to the couch. "You can always stay here, but you have to talk to me." "I heard Helen and Ron ..." "Mom and Dad?" "Well, until last night, I thought so too ... and in fact, I'm not their child." She looked somewhere vaguely and wiped away the remaining tears. "What do you mean, you're not their child?" "We're not even related." "Honey, do they know where you are now?" "No ... I didn't tell anyone." Shit! I took out my cell phone and called Nona, the woman who looked after me as a kid, and even later, and who lived two floors down. I didn't know how to behave or what to do in a situation like this. Fortunately, Nona was always cool-headed and always had a solution to all problems. I didn't even have to explain much to her. I said that we were in a crisis and that we needed her help. I admit, for someone in their seventy-odd years, it's pretty fast. I didn't even manage to put the phone on the table in front of us when she burst into the apartment. "Kids, what happened?" She asked when she saw crying Nalla in my arms. "Nalla, my dear, did something happen to someone in your family?" She came and sat next to us. "Why didn't anyone ever tell me?" Nalla asked anyone specifically. "Victor, did you do something?" Nona looked at me with that "I'll poison your soup" look. "Nona, she heard Mom and Dad ..." I began. "Don't call them that!" Nalla's scream went through my bones. "They are nothing to me! They are complete strangers! ” "I'm sorry ... look, Nona, the story is that the little one found out she was adopted." "Good. Now you are angry and, so to speak, alienated. Who are you really mad at? At parents you don't know or at parents who hid the truth? ” "I do not know..." "Have you ever felt the difference between you and the sisters?" "No ... except they haven't been lied to all their lives." "You need to talk to your parents. We don't know what led to this. " "To find out how my real parents didn't want me?" "And maybe you were the most wanted creature on the planet. I know you want the truth, but unfortunately you won't find out here because we don't know it. ”Nona hugged us together. "Come on, wipe away the tears, little one. There are worse things in life. " I knew that in the end I would solve the situation and that Nona was only there for advice, but I thought she would stay a little longer. At least until I figure out what our next task is. I should take her home. Common sense told me to take her to the building and disappear in a cloud of smoke, but the masochist in me decided to go all the way. "Come on, wash yourself, so that the whole world doesn't see you crying. I'll take you home. ”Those words burned me as they came out of my mouth because I wanted this to be her home. "You said I could stay." "We'll be back, but we'll find out everything we need to know first." I kissed her. "And if anyone reports you missing, you'll put me in jail." "I ... I didn't think ... I didn't know where to go ..." "Come on, go and get organized. We will solve this. ”I love my optimism, one day it will surely put me in hell. When she returned from the bathroom, she looked like a ghost, with a pale face, puffy red eyes, confused and scared ... but it was still time to hear the truth. Okay, it's clear that I'm not going to pass as the hero of the story, I'll probably even f**k up, but I wanted to be there for her. It was the first time I saw her in this condition, and I didn't like what she saw at all. She was silent as we drove through town. She looked around, but it was as if she saw nothing. She stopped at the entrance to her building and for a moment I thought she would run away from me too. I didn't take her bag in a hurry, and neither didn't took her keys. "Nalla, can you hear me?" I shouted when she overheard my question for the third time. "I'm sorry ... I ... what did you say?" She blinked. "Which apartment?" "Nine ..." she said softly and I immediately pressed the button next to the number. "Nalla!" Came a disturbed female voice as soon as the rustling turned into sensible speech. "She's with me, too." I said. "Can we go upstairs?" The lock buzzed and we soon found ourselves in front of the elevator. Nalla was silent, she hadn't said a word since we left the apartment. The elevator door opened on the third floor and we were greeted by the worried looks of her parents. She watched them in silence, waiting for them to say something, and we all remained silent. "Good afternoon," I said, just to break the tension. "I'm Victor, Nalla's friend." "I'm Helen" the middle-aged woman said, looking at me grimly. "This is Nalla's father, Ron." "Heh, father. Since when? ”I heard Nalla mutter extremely rudely. "You're not going to make scenes in the hallway, are you, little one? Can we come in? ”I asked. I think they let me into the apartment just because Nalla had no intention of going without me. Not that I really like being a human shield, but my God. They took us to the living room, we sat down and the silence nestled between us again. I waited for her to say something, to do something, but there was no reaction. "You weren't at school ..." Helen began. "Your professor called to ask me where you were ..." "I'm not. I was with him. " "And since when do you mark it from class, please?" "Does not matter. I have a question for you. ”Nalla took a deep breath to ease the anger in her voice. "You know we can always talk ... ask." "Who are my parents?" She spat. “Nalla, what kind of question is that? Well, we are your parents. " "Let me rephrase the question. Who are my real parents? ”She said louder than she should. "I heard you last night, so I would ask you not to lie to me." "Jesus, Nalla ... what exactly did you hear?" "Does it matter? I just want to know the truth ... is it that hard? ”She pulled closer to me and hid in my arms like a child. "What were we supposed to tell you?" "The truth!" "We know about your real parents that they died when you were just under two years old." "Okay, so they didn't leave me." "They are not. I believe they loved you more than life. " "Do I have living relatives?" "No one has ever inquired about you. You were in the home for about two months, we came and ... so here we are, having this conversation ... "Helen shot me a look and I knew I was the next topic. "Now let me hear, who is the gentleman?" "Victor, and he's not my friend but my boyfriend." "I'm sorry to interfere where I really don't belong, but I had to bring her here to know she was safe." "You're older." Was the first thing Ron said. "Enough, you might say." "I am," I admitted. "Not much, but enough to be able to influence her." "And you say she came to you ... how long has it been going on?" "Nalla, you count better, how long?" I looked at her. "Four months, more or less." "You didn't brag to anyone ..." Helen sighed. "Otherwise you talk to your sisters about everything." "Well, I haven't told anyone about him." She stood up and took my hand. "I'm going to sleep with him tonight." "You'll stay home, Nalla." Ron ordered. "Look, you've been lying to me your whole life, I found out, leave me alone for a while to settle down." She shook my hand to tell me it was time to go. "I'll be at school tomorrow." "But ..." Helen looked at me sadly. "She will be safe. Don't worry, she will be at school in the morning, and I will bring her back here in the afternoon, alive and well. "I said to ease the woman's suffering. "I will talk to her. She will calm down ... " "Those strange years of hers ..." "With all due respect, the years are not to blame. I'm older, so I would behave exactly the same. ”I said honestly. "How would you feel if you were in her place?" I said goodbye to them without expecting an answer. I caught up with Nalla at the elevator and I didn’t like the way she looked. She was pale. I knew she was going to cry, I just didn’t know when. I hated the feeling of helplessness the most. I know that it will be hard for her, that she will cry, that her soul will be torn to pieces, and I didn't know how to make it easier for her. "Sleep with me tonight ..." she said as we drove through town. "Nalla..." "Sleep with me tonight. The way it should be. ”And I was hoping she would change her đmind. "Listen to me, but listen well! I'm not f*****g with you, not tonight, not with you like this. I don't want to wake up tomorrow with a guilty conscience! " "Am I not attracted to you?" "Crazy, you know what happens when I'm with you, and you know very well that I need all the heavenly power not to pounce on you like a child for ice cream." I laughed. "So, yes, you're attracting me like crazy, but I'm not going to use the situation we're in." "Even if I want to?" "Not even then. We'll know when you're ready. Until then ... so we continue like this. ”I patted her leg. "We are in no hurry. f**k, if I can be patient, you should enjoy the attention you get without s*x. ”I laughed, but this just turned out to be funny to me. As if she wasn’t fed up with today, I still stuffed my needs on her nose. Congratulations, monkey! You earned a Nobel! Did I really say she got everything for free? Life, fairground carousel! Well, master, now break out of the grave as you know how. I stopped in the parking lot in front of the building and turned to face her. "Look, I didn't really think the way it sounded. I'll tell you something ... something that will sound exactly as I think and as it should sound. " "You said ... everything you thought." "I am not even close yet. Do you know what is most important at the moment? ” "All of the above?" "Nalla, listen to me because I'm saying this out loud for the first time in my life. You are my little one. My little girl ... and I love that little girl of mine too much to play with her feelings. I love you and I will not spoil it. " "You ... love me?" She stammered. "Well, if you don't love me, it's not a hurry." I laughed. "Let's go to the apartment. I'm hungry, and you haven't eaten all day. "
