Chapter Seven

What did you think about what the Pastor says‟ James asks his wife.

„I think we have answered him, or is there anything you are hiding from me‟? Dara asked her

husband with accusing look.

„No, I‟m not; I just thought that there must be a reason for the questions he asked, because I

was wondering why he was asking those types of questions. I also noticed that he was trying

to get something from our background, or our past or what do you think sweetheart?‟

„At least we have said it all to ourselves‟ Darasimi replied in a way that reveals that she‟s not

interested in the conversation.

„As a man of God I think there must be something that…‟ Darasimi quickly interrupt her

husband.

„If God has revealed something to him, then why can‟t he say it, he should have‟. Darasimi

said.

James who notices that what he was discussing with his wife is not going well with her, he

decides to change the topic of the discussion.

„I think we should have called mama to check up on her, ever since the day she left that we

confirmed her arrival home, we haven‟t called again to check on her and she also didn‟t call,

I just hope she is not offended with us concerning that‟. James said.

„I hope also, let‟s call her now‟.

Ajibike on the other hand has been patiently waiting, for her son‟s call, to inform her about

his wife who must have packed out of the house.

James picked up his phone and dialled his mother line.

„Oluwa seun o, Baba Fagbemi wi be o se be‟ Ajibike said and then picked her son‟s call.

„Ajadi oko mi, o ku ogun ajaye. God will now bless you with a new wife, don‟t be sober at

all. God has just taken you away from b*****e. Don‟t look for her o, she has gone for good‟.

James who was surprised about what his mother has been saying interrupted her.

„What are you saying mami, who is lost that I want to be looking for? I won‟t sober over

anybody in Jesus name. I don‟t have any idea about what you are saying‟.

Darasimi was looking at her husband in amazement, wondering what he is discussing with

his mother over the phone.

„Where is your wife‟ his mother asked

„She is here with me‟ James replied.

„Ajadi you mean Darasimi is still in that house?‟

„Where is she supposed to be or what sort of question is this?‟ James replied his mother.

Ajibike hang up the call.

„Hello, mami, hello” said and dialled his mother line again but the call was not reachable

again. Darasimi who has been watching the entire scenario asked her husband.

„What happened dear‟?

„I don‟t understand mama again dear, when I called her now I don‟t even understand all what

she was saying, and I tried to reach her back her line was not going through again‟.

„I just hope she is fine‟ Dara said.

„I hope so too‟. James replied.

Ajibike who can‟t just contain what she heard ran to Baba Ewegbami‟s house. On getting

there she saw his son who was pounding some herb in the mortal at their back yard.

„Where‟s Baba‟ Ajibike asked the boy.

„Good afternoon ma‟ the boy responds.

„I ask where your father is; you are greeting me, what‟s good about this afternoon‟.

The boy looked at Ajibike with amusement, he knows Ajibike as a good friend to his father,

but he was surprise at the sudden change of attitude.

„He went out‟ the boy replied.

„When he comes back tell him I came and he should ask you to inform me when he comes

back‟ Ajibike said angrily.

„Okay ma‟ the boy said.

Ajibike left angrily, and was pounding on what might have gone wrong. „I did everything the

way I was instructed to‟ she thought within herself.
