BAD FIANCE #1
BAD FIANCE #1 [Lanta’s part] “What the hell is this? I'm asking you!” “Uh..Drake” “Is this how you repay me, Lanta?” “Um...no, Drake, listen to me first.” “Listen? Huh, what are you going to lie about next!” “No, Drake, listen to me first.” “Get out of my life.” “...” “And don't come back again!” Bang! Gasp! “Passengers, please adjust your seats as the plane is about to land.” “Oh, okay.” I nodded slightly to the flight attendant before slowly adjusting my seat back to its original position. “When will I ever get this out of my head?” I whispered to myself before looking out the window at the many lights at night. “Here we are again...Come back home.” In truth, I like the US more than other places because my father is a diplomat, which means he has to travel to various places all the time. I asked him to let me stay in our hometown when I entered university, and he agreed because I was old enough to take care of myself. But certain things forced me to leave for two long years. Two years thinking it had gotten better, Two years thinking I had forgotten, Two years and yet...his face is still as clear as ever. I’ve run away enough. It's time for me to face reality. I walked out of the airport, looking at the cars passing by, the lights on the buildings, everything that made me miss this place. “Hey, are you shooting a music video?” “Eva!” I ran to hug my dear friend with longing. “I missed you.” “Took you long enough to come back, you silly girl,” she sniffled. “Quit being such a crybaby. I'm back now, see?” I said with a laugh, gently patting my friend’s back to comfort her. “Let’s go to the car. Are you hungry?” Eva asked as we walked to the parking lot. “Do you want to grab something to eat before we head back to the condo?” “No, I'm not really hungry. I just want to rest.” “Okay.” -In the car- “You've been gone for two years and you've gotten even prettier.” “Of course I have.” I turned to smile and winked at Eva. "So what are you going to do now that you're back? Why not live the life of a princess in Finland?" "I miss you, and I miss Anda too." "Do you really miss us?" "..." "Honestly, since you left, I haven't heard much about him. He disappeared just like you did." "..." "Why not give it another shot, Lan? I know your heart has never moved on from that day." "He never listens to me. He never has." "I really want you to move on." "I'm... trying." "If you can't move on, maybe you should go back and settle things once and for all." "Yeah... if I ever see him again." "You'll definitely see him," Eva said calmly. "He's your fiancé, after all." "The fiancé who kicked me out of his life, huh." I said, letting out a hollow laugh, feeling a bit sorry for myself. "Do you want me to stay with you?" "No, it's fine. I can manage." "Are you sure?" "Yeah... I really wish Anda was here too." "She'll be flying back tomorrow!" "And... how's Fah?" "She's fine, not bothered by anything. Why are you asking about her?" "Eva... no matter what, I was wrong that day." "Stop! Don't talk about it anymore." I went silent and looked out the window. The roads here have changed a lot. But that's how it is; as time passes, everything is bound to change. -After a while- Screech! "Thank you so much," I turned and smiled at Eva. "No problem," Eva grinned mischievously. "Get plenty of rest." "Yeah, see you." I closed the door and watched Eva's car drive away before turning to look at the condo I had left for two years. [End] -On the other side- "Hey dude..." "..." "Took you long enough to come down," Tan said, looking at Drake with irritation. "Been here long?" Drake asked as he sat down and calmly poured a drink into his glass. "A while," Tan replied, taking a sip of his drink. "Is Win coming today?" "Hah, he's so wrapped up in his kid. Do you really think he'll show up?" "Don't you ever think about having a wife? Since that thing happened, you haven't been with anyone..." "..." "You still haven't forgotten, huh?" "..." Drake remained silent before taking a sip from his glass with a pained expression. "If you still love her, figure out what really happened that night." "It's already clear, what more is there to find out?" "You know your fiancée best." "She's not my fiancée." "Heh, I'll be watching!" Tan said teasingly, taking a sip of his drink with a cheerful demeanor before signaling to the waiter standing by. "Get me a girl." "Yes, sir." "Huh," Drake shook his head in exasperation before speaking up. "You staying here tonight?" "Nah, I got a morning meeting tomorrow." "Alright, then," Drake replied, finishing the drink in his hand. "Come on over," Tan leaned back in his seat, beckoning a woman who walked into the room with a seductive look. Drake glanced briefly before getting up and telling his friend, "I'm leaving. If you can't drive, have my men take you home." "Alright," Tan nodded before turning back to the woman in front of him. Drake headed up to his office, flopped onto the sofa, and thought about Tan's words. "Find out, huh? Yeah, right!" Drake muttered, shaking his head in self-pity before grabbing his luxury car keys and heading to the parking lot immediately.
