SEASON 2: SHADOWS IN THE SYNDICATE; Chapter 1: The Invisible Name

246 Words
Kade was no longer just a runner, but a ghost-child of the Lagos asphalt. He had become a phantom within the machine. To the Marian Syndicate, he remained a non-entity, a flaw they hadn't bothered to correct—and his greatest benefit resided in that omission. To be unseen in the Syndicate's convoluted design meant being ubiquitous. Invisibility gave him access, and in Kade's world, access was the ultimate currency of opportunity. He had progressed from the frenzied hustle of the streets to the steady pulse of enhanced operations. His days were now defined by mid-level shipments, the quiet flow of encrypted logistics, and the surgical accuracy of controlled distribution channels. Lagos had transformed from a sprawling metropolis to a living organism of leverage, with high-end nightclubs transformed from dens of excess into strategic hubs for intelligence, and chaotic ports transformed into grand master chessboards where every container moved with intent. He existed in the "grey space"—far above the street-level grit, but still outside the sanctum of the inner circle. At the top of this system sat the Chairman, a mythical figure who ruled from behind a cloud of smoke like a god in exile. Others felt a paralysing feeling of veneration or horror, but Kade merely felt cool, analytical curiosity. He did not fear the man; rather, he dissected him. He understood that one cannot just seize a throne. To succeed a king, one must first understand the architecture of the seat itself.
