Aurora
This was not how I pictured my first day at Alchemia. My father would have laughed if he saw me. “All that stubbornness and you've already gotten into trouble,” I could hear his voice rushing through my mind.
I didn't want to think about the chain of events that had led me to Alchemia, but the memories of that terrible day started to flash in my mind again. It had been haunting me for weeks since it occurred.
Before I could dive deep into memory lane, Derek came up to me again, looking red and furious. Without warning, he picked up the notebook on my desk and flung it behind him like it was nothing but a flimsy piece of paper.
I immediately shot to my feet, disregarding the way the wolf on the inside of me simply watered to cower at the face of one clearly superior.
But Derek appeared stupid, and power was nothing without wit. I didn't have a vast range of skills I could perform as an Omega wolf, but I could at least growl in his face. I allowed the deep sound to rumble in my chest as I frowned at him.
As much as I needed to keep my head down, I also couldn't allow myself to be treated in such a manner. “Is there something wrong with you?” The words tumbled out of my mouth before I shoved him aside and went to get the book.
He grabbed my arm and whirled me around to face him. “You seriously don't know who I am, do you? If you did you wouldn't be running that cunt on your face like that.”
Vulgar. Immature. Just the very kind of men that repulsed me. I could bet that he also held little regard for women.
I took note of the faces of everyone in the class, who simply watched Derek try and bully me. They all acted as though this wasn't the first time he had done something like this before. And now that the teacher had left us all unattended, there was no one to keep him in check.
He pulled my arm further behind my back at an angle that started to hurt, but I gritted my teeth. This was a test from the goddess. And I wouldn't fail. “Leave me alone!” I said this with as much venom as I could muster.
Derek leaned in, such that I could feel his hot, disgusting breath against the skin of my ear. “I told you that you were done for. Now, it's time for me to show you what happens to those who try to belittle me.”
I scoffed, unable to keep my dangerous thoughts at bay. “Belittle? I bet that there's nothing big about you in the first place,” I said in a single breath, making sure to glance at his crotch. Men like him seldom saw any other value to themselves aside from the size of their d***s.
Snickers erupted from those seated. Well, at least they weren't deaf.
His grip got even tighter, and now I knew for sure that inflicting pain was his main aim. “What the f**k did you just say to me?”
Maybe I should have backed down then. Should have just laughed and told him that I was simply messing around with him. But I was too far gone. He didn't even compare to the terrors I had seen.
“I think that's enough, Derek. Remember Alchemia’s policy against bullying,” someone said, getting up to his feet. His blonde hair fell over his face at first, but once he used a hand to move it out of his eyes, I found myself staring into ice-blue orbs.
It was the same guy who had come late with his brother earlier. As I expected, his twin sat on the desk behind him, also assessing the situation with narrowed eyes.
“What does it f*****g matter to you anyway?” Derek retorted, sounding so annoyed that his voice started to quake. A child indeed.
The blonde ‘angel’ stepped towards us, followed by his brother. The way he looked at me stirred up a strange feeling in the pit of my belly, but I dismissed it as an attraction to his beauty.
When he and his brother stood before us, he separated Derek and I swiftly. My wolf felt trapped between the struggle for dominance going on between the three men. But it was already obvious who the winners were.
My saviour turned to me with a little smile on his lips. “It matters because . . . she's my mate.”
Like a rock, my heart sank into my belly. The whole class descended into a frenzy.
“You must be joking.” Another person said from the back of the class. We waited for him to show himself, and once he did, he didn't disappoint.
I didn't know how I hadn't noticed them earlier. Maybe it was the seats they had chosen at the back.
They were another set of twins, and although they looked very much alike, it was easy to tell the differences between them. Dark hair like the night. Green eyes. Mischievous smirks. Faces so handsome it physically hurts to look at them. The one speaking had an aura of one who held so much power, but kept it hidden between playful jabs and smirks.
He and his brother stepped up to the other side of Derek and I. The murmuring in the class increased. Whatever was happening, it had never happened before. At least, not to this extent before.
Two sets of the most beautiful twins I had ever laid eyes upon stood on either side of me and all my mind could think about was how incredibly bizarre this whole situation was.
“She can't be your mate,” one of the darker-haired twins said, gently pulling my hair out of my face. I remained frozen, returning his deep gaze. “Because she's ours.”
