Chapter 1 That Gomez Heir
When I, Quinn Stout, found out my husband, Wyatt Gomez, was cheating, I wasn't surprised.
What surprised me was who he was cheating with. It was Stella Gomez, his aunt.
I finished the cigarette in my hand, exhaled slowly, and said in a flat voice, "Then maybe we should get divorced and make things easier for the two of you."
His eyes were filled with tears instantly. He dropped to his knees at my feet and swore that things had just gotten out of hand between them, and that he would never see her again.
I believed him. I decided to give him one more chance.
That lasted until his grandfather's birthday celebration, when Stella walked straight into the middle of the party with a child in her arms.
"Wyatt, are you really going to abandon your son and me?"
Wyatt's hand clamped around my wrist, his face tight with conflict and hesitation.
I smiled, parted his fingers off my wrist one by one, and said.
"Go on. No one's stopping you from playing both nephew and father."

"Quinn, the baby's crying. I can't just ignore that. Let me go check on him first, and we'll talk later."
And just like that, Wyatt let go of me without a second thought.
He walked straight toward them in full view of everyone.
Stella even pinched the child when no one was looking, just to make him cry louder.
Wyatt's father, Miles Gomez, saw the look on my face and hurried over with an uneasy smile, trying to smooth things over.
"Wyatt's always had a kind soul. It breaks his heart to hear a kid cry..."
Wyatt's mother, Elena Gomez, smiled awkwardly and chimed in. "That's right, Quinn. Don't be mad at him."
At that moment, my sister, Ivy Stout, let out a cold laugh and raised her voice. "Miles. Elena. Does Quinn look stupid to you?"
After shooting them both a sharp look, she turned to me and lowered her voice.
"Quinn, our family has never let anyone humiliate us and walk away from it. We can't afford this kind of disgrace. Let's go."
As we walked out, whispers rose on both sides of us.
"So what if Quinn is the richest woman in the country? She still got cheated on. No wonder Wyatt disappeared for a year. Turns out he was off starting another family..."
"That Gomez heir is unbelievable. He slept with his own aunt. So much for their marriage alliance…"
For a moment, I felt numb.
I kept thinking about the Wyatt who used to say he would marry no one but me, the Wyatt who once insisted we go abroad together.
Then, out of nowhere, he changed his mind and said he couldn't bear to leave home.
That was when I first felt something was off.
My best friend had laughed and tried to reassure me. "He's still young. It's not that strange that he doesn't want to leave his parents yet..."
That excuse might have worked for someone else.
It never should have worked for Wyatt.
He had been raised the same way I had, groomed from childhood to inherit everything, surrounded by nannies and staff, and sent all over the world before most kids even knew what the world looked like.
A man like that didn't get homesick.
Before we got married, we had already agreed on what the future would look like.
I would take Stout Group global. He would lead the Gomez family into legitimacy and transformation.
With both families' approval, we had already registered our marriage.
We planned to hold the ceremony after Christmas.
Right before I left the country, he pinned me beneath him, held me close, and murmured. "Give me one year. Let me build something first, and then I'll come find you, okay?"
I did not love the idea, but I still said yes.
I went abroad alone.
My parents kept asking me why, if we were already married, we were not trying for a baby yet.
I brushed them off every time with one excuse after another.
I figured he was two years younger than me, so waiting another couple of years didn't seem like a big deal.
What I never saw coming was this.
All my patience had done was give him time to start a family with someone else first.
Once the Stout family made it clear they were serious, Miles finally stopped trying to laugh it off.
He chased after me to the door and apologized with a strained, miserable look on his face.
"Quinn, I spoiled Wyatt too much. Please give him one more chance. We never imagined he'd do something like this with his own aunt... Just trust us. We'll talk sense into him. He'll come around..."
I almost laughed.
"Miles, don't be so hard on yourself. At least they are still family. Besides, she's not even his real aunt."
That wiped the smile off his face.
But even then, he still didn't dare push back.
He smiled awkwardly, lowered his voice, and tried again.
"Quinn, be reasonable. I'll give you ten billion. Just raise the child as your own. Then we can still be one big happy family..."
