CHAPTER 1/ THE HEARTBREAKING HOMECOMING
Olivia couldn't contain the joy she felt at this moment.
A radiant smile crawled on her face,
she was finally going to reveal the truth to Alex after five years of their marriage.
she sat in the taxi, her smile growing wider with each passing moment. She couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and anticipation as she gazed out the window, watching the familiar sights of her neighborhood glide by.
She drummed her fingers on her purse, her mind racing with thoughts of the surprise she had in store for Alex. She had kept her secret for so long, and she couldn't wait to finally share it with him.
As the taxi turned onto their street, Olivia's heart skipped a beat. She could see their beautiful home coming into view.
She took a deep breath, her joy and excitement building inside her like a bubble waiting to burst. She couldn't wait to see Alex's face light up with surprise and delight when she revealed the truth.
The taxi pulled up to the curb, and Olivia paid the driver with a smile. "Thank you," she said, her voice barely containing her excitement.
She stepped out of the taxi and onto the sidewalk, her eyes fixed on the front door of her home. Her heart raced with anticipation as she made her way towards it, ready to share her secret and start a new chapter in their lives together.
Her face lit up with a bright smile as she opened the door, excitement coursing through her veins. She had been waiting for this moment all day, eager to surprise Alex with her news. But as she stepped into the sitting room, her smile faltered.
Her eyes landed on a tie and purse on the chair, and Alex's suit jacket on the floor. Her mind raced to process whose they were, but before she could wonder further, she heard noises coming from upstairs. The sounds were muffled, but unmistakable.
Her heart began to race as she felt a sense of trepidation wash over her. She slowly made her way upstairs, her feet feeling heavy with each step. As she approached the bedroom door, the sounds grew louder, and her heart sank.
With a sense of dread, Olivia pushed open the door, and her world came crashing down around her. She saw Alex and Rachel, their bodies entwined, their faces lost in passion. The sounds she had heard moments earlier now made sense, and her worst fears were confirmed.
Her eyes felt like they were burning with tears as she gazed upon the shocking scene before her. Her mind raced with thoughts of disbelief, hurt, and anger. She felt like her whole world was crumbling down around her.
Olivia's voice was barely audible as she whispered, "How could you?" Her eyes were fixed on the two people she loved most in the world, now tangled in a web of deceit and betrayal.
Alex's eyes snapped open, and he froze, his gaze locking onto Olivia's. Rachel's eyes followed, and she too, froze, her face a picture of guilt and shame.
The room was silent, the only sound being Olivia's ragged breathing. She felt like she was suffocating, like the air had been sucked out of her lungs.
Without a word, Olivia turned and ran from the room, tears streaming down her face. She couldn't bear to look at them, couldn't bear to be in the same room as their betrayal.
She stumbled down the stairs, her vision blurry, and made her way to the front door. She flung it open and ran out into the night, not knowing where she was going, just knowing she had to get away.
As Olivia rushed outside, her husband, Alex, quickly followed, calling out to her in a desperate attempt to apologize and explain.
"Olivia, wait! Please, just listen to me!" he pleaded, his voice echoing through the night air.
But Olivia didn't stop. She kept moving, her eyes fixed on the street ahead, her heart racing with anger and hurt.
Just as Alex was about to reach her, she spotted a taxi driving by and quickly flagged it down. She yanked open the door and jumped in, slamming it shut behind her.
"Drive!" she commanded the driver, her voice firm and urgent.
The taxi sped away from the curb, leaving Alex standing alone on the sidewalk, his face etched with regret and sorrow.
As the taxi disappeared into the night, Olivia finally allowed herself to break down, her body shaking with sobs. She couldn't believe what she had just seen, couldn't believe that her husband and best friend had betrayed her like this.
She didn't know where she was going, didn't care. She just knew she needed to get away, to escape the pain and heartache that threatened to consume her.
