Chapter 1: Shattered Dreams
Tanvi Malhotra's gaze drifted out the window, lost in memories of her ex-boyfriend. The Mumbai rain poured down, mirroring her turbulent emotions. Kabir Oberoi, her best friend, sat beside her, concern etched on his face. "Tanvi, it's been two years. You need to move on." Tanvi's eyes snapped back to Kabir, a mixture of sadness and longing. "I know, Kabir. But it's hard. He is my everything." Kabir's expression softened. He gently took Tanvi's hand, leading her to the couch. "Remember that trip to Goa? You and him laughed so much, and I was the third wheel?" Tanvi's lips curled into a bittersweet smile. "You were never a third wheel, Kabir. You're my rock." As they reminisced, Tanvi's phone buzzed. She hesitated before checking the notification: "Trending No. 1: Raisinghania's Latest Venture" Tanvi's heart sank. Her ex boyfriend's success stung, reminding her of what she'd lost. Kabir noticed Tanvi's tears. "Hey, don't," he whispered, pulling her into a comforting hug. Tanvi buried her face in Kabir's shoulder, releasing pent-up emotions. "Why did he leave, Kabir? Why did he break my heart?" Kabir held her close, his secret love for Tanvi hidden behind a mask of friendship. He feared losing their bond if he revealed his true feelings. As Tanvi cried, Kabir made a silent vow: help Tanvi heal, even if it meant watching her love her ex forever. Tanvi's tears slowly subsided, and she pulled back from Kabir's embrace. "Sorry, Kabir. I'm just...still stuck." Kabir handed her a tissue. "You don't have to apologize, Tanvi. I'm here for you." Tanvi blew her nose, composing herself. "I need to move on. I want to be happy again." Kabir smiled. "That's the spirit! Let's start small. How about we plan a night out? Get your mind off him ?" Tanvi hesitated, then nodded. "Okay. But promise me one thing: no talking about him ." Kabir held up his hands. "I promise. Tonight, it's all about you and your awesomeness." As they made plans, Tanvi's phone buzzed again: "Raisinghania's Exclusive Interview: 'My Success Story'" Tanvi's eyes widened, and Kabir quickly grabbed her phone. "No, Tanvi. Don't read it. Focus on yourself." Tanvi nodded, but her mind wandered. What was his success story? Had he moved on, too? Kabir sensed her distraction. "Hey, let's get out of here. Fresh air will do you good." Tanvi agreed, and they stepped into the rainy evening, arm in arm. As they walked, Kabir pointed out street food stalls and vendors, trying to distract Tanvi from her thoughts. But her ex's presence lingered, haunting her. Tanvi's gaze drifted to a couple embracing under an awning. She felt a pang, remembering his warm touch. Kabir noticed her wistful expression. "Hey, are you okay?" Tanvi forced a smile. "Yeah, just enjoying the evening." Kabir's eyes narrowed, but he didn't press the issue. They stopped at a street food stall, and Kabir ordered Tanvi's favorite, momos . As they savored the spicy treats, Tanvi's phone buzzed again. "Raisinghania's Interview: 'I'm Not Looking Back'" Tanvi's heart skipped a beat. Kabir swiftly took her phone. "Tanvi, focus on the present. He's your past. You deserve better." Tanvi nodded, but her mind whirled. What did her ex mean by "not looking back"? Was he truly over her? As they continued their stroll, Tanvi's thoughts seesawed between her ex and the promise of a new beginning. Suddenly, Kabir halted, his eyes sparkling. "I have an idea. Let's make a pact." "What kind of pact?" Tanvi asked, curiosity piqued. "To rediscover ourselves, together. No more dwelling on the past." Tanvi's smile spread, genuine this time. "I'm in." Kabir grinned, his secret love swelling with hope. "The pact starts now," Kabir declared, his eyes shining with determination. "We'll explore Mumbai, try new things, and focus on our passions." Tanvi nodded enthusiastically. "I'm ready. What's the first step?" Kabir grinned mischievously. "We're going to paint the town red – literally." He led Tanvi to a nearby art studio, where they spent the evening splattering colors and laughter. For the first time in months, Tanvi forgot about her ex . As they left the studio, Kabir handed Tanvi a small package. "For you." Inside, Tanvi found a beautiful journal. "To record your journey," Kabir explained. Tanvi's eyes welled up. "Kabir, this means so much." Kabir's smile softened. "You mean everything to me, Tanvi." Tanvi (in her flirty mood) asked Kabir ," What do you mean ? Huh!". Kabir's heart skipped a beat for a while as he looked into Tanvi's eyes . His phone buzzed breaking the beautiful moment between them . Their gazes met again after the call , and for a fleeting moment, Tanvi saw something in Kabir's eyes that made her heart skip a beat. But it was quickly replaced by their usual friendly banter. The next morning, Tanvi opened her journal, feeling a sense of purpose. She began writing, and words flowed effortlessly. "As I paint my life with vibrant colors, I realize the beauty in broken pieces. Kabir's right; I must move on. His (her ex's) chapter is closed." Tanvi's phone buzzed, breaking her flow. "Kabir: Meet me at Café Bliss at 3 pm. New adventure awaits!" Tanvi's heart skipped a beat. What had Kabir planned? At 3 pm, Tanvi arrived at Café Bliss, finding Kabir already seated. "What's the plan?" Tanvi asked, excitement building. Kabir grinned. "We're attending a photography workshop. Capture life's beauty, and forget the past." Tanvi's eyes widened. "You know I've always wanted to learn photography!" Kabir chuckled. "I know everything about you, Tanvi." Their eyes met, and for a moment, Tanvi felt a flutter in her chest. On the other hand in Powai , Raisinghania stood confidently in front of the camera, his charm and charisma captivating the interviewer. "My success story is one of perseverance and hard work," he said in his smooth voice . But behind the façade, His thoughts drifted to Tanvi. He couldn't shake the feeling that he'd left a part of himself with her. The interviewer asked, "What drives you, Mr. Raisinghania?" His gaze faltered for a moment before he regained composure. "My passion for innovation and making a difference." As the interview concluded, Raisinghania's assistant handed him his phone. "Tanvi Malhotra's social media activity," she said. His heart skipped a beat. He hadn't expected to feel this way. He scrolled through Tanvi's posts, noticing her interactions with Kabir Oberoi. A pang of jealousy struck him. "Why are you still checking up on her , Sir?" His assistant asked, concern etched on her face. His expression hardened. "Just ensuring she's doing well !" But deep down, He knew he was lying. He couldn't shake off the feeling that he'd made a mistake by leaving Tanvi. His success felt hollow without her to share it with. Deep down he knew that Tanvi was the one behind his success as she wanted him to be a famous vlogger . He recalled their laughter, their adventures, and their quiet moments together. Tanvi had been more than just a girlfriend; she'd been his best friend. His phone buzzed, snapping him back to reality. "Meet me at the rooftop bar at 8 pm. -Rohan" Rohan, his business partner and bestfriend, was the only one who knew about his true feelings for Tanvi. At 8 pm, He arrived at the rooftop bar, where Rohan waited with a whiskey. "What's eating at you, Rai ?" Rohan asked, noticing his friend's turmoil. He sighed. "Tanvi. I still think about her." Rohan's expression turned serious. "You need to move on, Buddy. Tanvi's moved on." Rai's eyes narrowed. "What do you mean?" Rohan hesitated before speaking. "Kabir Oberoi's been taking care of her. They're close." His grip on his glass tightened. "What do you mean 'close'?" His jealousy was clearly seen in his eyes. Rohan's voice was measured. "I mean, they're inseparable. Kabir's been supporting her through tough times." His mind raced. "Tanvi, with someone else?" he thought with some possessiveness for Tanvi. "Is she happy?" He asked, his voice barely above a whisper. Rohan nodded. "She seems to be. But, Rai, you need to consider moving on. You've got a lot to lose if you pursue her again." His eyes locked onto Rohan's. "I'll take that risk." Rohan raised an eyebrow. "You're prepared to jeopardize everything for a second chance?" His resolve hardened. "For Tanvi, yes." Rohan sighed. "Fine. But be warned, Rai: Tanvi's not the same girl you left behind." His determination grew. He would win Tanvi back, no matter what. Tanvi wrote in her journal, she couldn't help but think about Kabir. His kind eyes, his charming smile, and his unwavering support had captured her heart. She felt a flutter in her chest as she thought about their last conversation. Had Kabir been flirting with her? And did she feel the same way? Tanvi's phone buzzed, breaking her train of thought. She smiled as she saw Kabir's name on the screen. "Hey, beautiful! What's up?" Kabir's message read. Tanvi's heart skipped a beat. Beautiful? Was Kabir developing feelings for her too? Rai's eyes narrowed as he thought about Tanvi's new life without him. He couldn't shake off the feeling that she had moved on too quickly. Rohan's words echoed in his mind: "Tanvi's not the same girl you left behind." Rai's gut twisted with anxiety. What if Tanvi had truly moved on? What if she was happy with someone else? He thought about Tanvi's social media posts, her smiling photos with Kabir. A spark of anger ignited within him. Why was she so quick to forget him? Rai's mind began to spin with negative thoughts. Tanvi was probably just using Kabir to get over him. She was probably still in love with him, but too proud to admit it. As the days went by, Rai's insecurity grew. He became obsessed with the idea that Tanvi was still in love with him, but was too afraid to admit it. His anger and resentment towards Tanvi simmered just below the surface. He began to hate her for moving on, for being happy without him. Rai's eyes burned with a fierce determination. He would show Tanvi that he was still the one in control. He would make her regret ever leaving him. Tanvi's phone buzzed with an incoming message. She hesitated for a moment before opening it. "Meet me at the old café at 5 pm. Come alone." The message was anonymous, but something about it sent a shiver down Tanvi's spine. She tried to brush it off as a prank, but the words lingered in her mind. Who could be sending her such cryptic messages? As the day went on, Tanvi found herself glancing at her phone every few minutes, her curiosity growing. At 5 pm sharp, Tanvi arrived at the old café, her heart racing with anticipation. The café was empty, except for a figure sitting in the corner. Tanvi's eyes scanned the café, her mind racing with possibilities. She had received a mysterious message, and she had a feeling it was from Rai. She had been dreading this moment, wondering what Rai wanted now. But as she waited, her anxiety grew. Suddenly, the figure stood up, and Tanvi's heart skipped a beat. But as the figure approached, Tanvi's fear turned to surprise. It was Kabir, a mischievous grin spreading across his face. "Gotcha!" he exclaimed, holding up his phone. Tanvi's relief turned to laughter. "You sneaky thing!" she teased, playfully hitting Kabir on the arm. Kabir chuckled. "I just wanted to see if you'd fall for it."
