CHAPTER 1
The doors are shut. No one was there. Seriously, no one but I can feel someone’s presence.
"There is ...there is someone ...I know, you are there" I shouted. "Please tell me who you are... what do you want!" And then suddenly I saw a bright light shining. Brighter than the sun ...I guess. I ran towards it, away from the darkness, as fast as I could. Using all my strength,
with sweat dripping down my face. And I gasped for breath.
"Get up... Get up!" my mom shouted. "Don't you wanna go to your new class? Your high school days start today!"
And I suddenly realized that it was 5:30 am and I needed to get ready quickly. My van arrives one complete hour earlier than school time. I got up quickly and went to the washroom. It was a horrible morning as I discovered I was all red below. Periods ...oh no .... a bad start to a new year at school!
I cleaned myself as much as I could and picked up a pad from the packet above the wooden cupboard. I went to the bathroom to take a bath. Then brushing my teeth went as usual. I got dressed up in salwar kurta (my school dress) and I discovered I was already late. My mom gave me a paratha to eat but I asked her to butter it and roll it up so that I could eat it in the van. I was putting my hair into a nice high ponytail while she got my paratha and lunch ready. It was 6:15, the time when my van came. I somehow stuffed everything in the bag, including my lunch box, bottle, and rolled paratha in my hands. I sat in the van while the driver threw my bag in the carrier above the van.
I looked at everyone's faces in the van. When the driver had put my bag, sorry, actually thrown it, people inside the van looked at me as if there was some boom in my bag and it might blast, causing the roof of the van to explode any second now. I didn't have many genuine friends in the van, actually none!
