CHAPTER ELEVENSergeant Yamura pulled the white police cruiser to the curb in front of Comic Cavalcade and waited for Lindsey to climb out. She took a clipboard from the car, secured the cruiser, and joined him on the sidewalk. A crowd of Telegraph Avenue types, a mixture of U.C. students, new-style yuppies and scraggly street people stranded by the receding waves of earlier decades, milled on the sidewalk outside the store. Yamura and Lindsey were admitted to the store by Officer Plum. Inside, Linc Morris and Jan Chiu sat side by side on tall stools, looking like a pair of schoolchildren in a Norman Rockwell painting. Officer Plum had sealed off the alleyway behind the store, the scene of the actual crime. Nothing had been touched. “We’ll get someone up here from Forensics,” Yamura said
