Chapter 4Ash woke a few hours later from a shout on the other side of the wall. He rolled out of bed, cursed his body for not cooperating, and limped toward Rafael’s room as fast as he could. He pushed the door open and scanned the room—nothing out of place. “Rafael.” Rafael struggled to get free from the cover and stared at him with wide eyes. His breathing was fast as he blinked and looked around the room. “Are you awake?” “Yeah.” “Bad dream?” Rafael nodded, but despite the dark in the room, Ashton could tell he wasn’t meeting his eyes. “You okay?” The silence lasted several seconds. “Sure. Just a dream.” He was not okay. Ashton sat on the side of the bed. “What are you doing?” “Sitting.” Rafael moved closer to the wall, giving him room. “Why?” “My leg. I hurried out of bed
