Gabriel watched the landscape pass by outside the car windows and found himself wondering why anyone would settle in such a dry, arid place. True, the mountains off to the right were quite majestic, and the hillsides weren’t completely bare, but covered by a variety of scrubby evergreen trees he didn’t immediately recognize. Even so, everything looked very brown, very bare compared to the lush rainforest that surrounded the hidden village of Pico n***o, the only place he had ever known…until his powers were stripped from him and he was sent into exile.
In a way, he supposed he had banishment in common with the demon lord he was going to see. Clearly, Loc had been summoned to this plane and then had no choice but to remain once Simon had been killed. The Castillos did not practice that
