A day later his mothers death, March was still traumatized as vivid memories of his parents death flashed every second infront of his eyes.
Why did all of this happen? The question that kept running through his mind.
Why?? Why??? Why?? was the only thing he could hear. Both of their faces were haunting him every second as he shriveled up on a corner.
Days passed as March began to readjust his life. An isolated life with nothing and no-one to turn to. Finally a week later he ran out of food. He thought for hours what to do. He kept debating on facing the outside world. The world which he doesn't even know existed anymore. The world that he had long forgotten.
The world that was just a memory.
He tried going out.He started walking and walking and walking but he didnt seem to reach anywhere.
I mean how could he. Did I tell you that their house was in the middle of nowhere?
The mom had a car that she used for daily transportation.March, after an hour of walking finally returned back to the house. He then got his mothers note and started reading it again. He didnt remember the details but he did remember his mom mentioning something about food .
I mean he loved food so obviously he noticed that.
"AFTER I AM GONE TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF.I HAVE LEFT ALL OUR MONEY,THE HOUSE AND EVERYTHING WE OWN TO YOU.THE FOOD WILL LAST YOU FOR ABOUT A WEEK BUT DONT WORRY I HAVE STASHED SOME FOOD ON THE STORAGE ROOM ON THE BASEMENT.I THINK IT SHOULD LAST YOU ATLEAST A MONTH. " the first few sentences of the note.
We will get to others too very soon..
March went to the basement searching for the storage room. He tried to open it but it was locked.
March went upstairs to get the key to his mother's room and returned.
He opened the door and went in. The room was pretty big and filled with dry foods, sacks of rice, and other types of various fruits and vegetables. A corner in the room had a huge fridge. He opened the fridge and found lots of frozen meats that were enough to last him at least a month or two.
There were drinks and sodas and some wines in a cellar. There were soaps, dishwashers, lotions, and all the things required in a household.
He carried two days' worth of supplies upstairs to the kitchen and put them in the pantry.
" Now what? " he questioned himself.
I mean he doesn't know how to cook or to do anything at all. What was he supposed to do?
He sat on the couch and started talking to himself.
"What do I do now? "
"How do I cook? "
"I have seen mom do it thousands of times but where do I start? "
"Mom what do I do now? "
"Why? Why mom? Why did you do this to me? Why?"Tears began rolling down his eyes.
"How am I supposed to live? What do you expect me to do? Whom do you expect me to turn to? Why did you leave me? "
Why?how?what?who?..that was the only thing that kept running through his mind.
What would you do in this situation? Would you be able to live?
His mind filled with all those questions finally had a brilliant idea.
"Why don't I check the internet? "
Internet is the solution to everything.. I mean you could find anything and everything there.
He brought out his laptop and opened YouTube.
" How to cook food? " he typed. A number of cooking channels appeared with thousands of recipe and thousands more ways for cooking the same thing by thousand of people who used thousands of tips and tricks to teach you how to cook.
March who was enthralled by the number of videos that popped infrontof his eyes gazed away in exhaustion and went to the kitchen to take the matters in his own hands.
He grabbed an apple and washed it.
" This is my dinner. " he sighed while eating the apple.
Well at least an apple a day keeps the doctor away.. ( ̄3 ̄).
He woke up in the middle of the night with a screaming stomach enraged with hunger. Tears rolled down his eyes as he remembered his mother cooking delicious food for him. How he never really had to care about going hungry a single day thanks to his mother.
He stood up and went to the kitchen. He grabbed a bag of chips and a biscuit and started watching TV.
He opened Netflix and started watching THE SAND MAN.
Which I absolutely love by the way. If you haven't watched it then watch it. It is so good.
March woke up at 7 in the morning to the sound of birds chirping outside the forest. He stood up with baggy eyes and a hand full of chip dust on his fingers. He looked around while washing his hands with soap and water. He went to the fridge and opened a bottle of water and drank it.
He washed his face and brushed his teeth. Then he thought what now??
What would you do??
Although overwhelmed by the recommendations yesterday he took out his laptop and looked through the internet again.
This time with a much simpler approach.
“How to make tea?”
Again a plethora of recommendations appeared in front of him but this time he simply just clicked the first video he saw.
As most of us do.
It was titled “ How to make a soul-lifting tea?”.
Quite the title isn't it?
Watching the video March slowly tried to make the tea." I mean how hard could it be??" he thought.
Well, it was pretty hard.
It took around 20 mins and 3 tutorials for him to figure out how an electric kettle worked.
Like just putting the plug in the socket.
He added water, tea leaf, sugar, and a little bit of ginger and honey with a dash of lemon as said in the video.
And finally, the tea was made.
This was the first time he had made anything at all in his life. He tasted the very creation that he had produced in front of him. This tea was something he had created, he was the god of this tea...
Wow, relax with the exaggeration.
He dipped the biscuit in the tea and started eating it with tears in his eyes. Tears of joy, tears of satisfaction, tears of accomplishment, tears of fulfillment, and finally the tears of self-dependency.
So many tears.
As hours passed March began to learn more and more through the help of the almighty internet. He surfs the web for every possible problem that he might face in the future.
Hours turn into days and finally after a week March was fully capable of surviving all alone or as he thought he was.
The supplies were surprisingly lasting very well for March.
I mean how much could one person use?
Half a month has passed and yet he still might have supplies for another one or even two more months.
March started venturing into the online world learning as much as he can about day to day life of other people that existed beyond him and his confined house where nobody but him exist or so he thought ....
