When school concludes, Evan goes to a coffee shop to grade papers, but his true intent is to wait for his ex-girlfriend who will soon exit her job across the street. He’s back to his pathetic depression. A server brings him a pastry. “What do you teach?” He blinks away from gazing out the window and turns to her. “Sorry, what?” She has a pleasant smile. “What do you teach?” “English. Wait, did I order this?” “No. It’s on me.” “Uh, thanks.” “So, how are they doing?” He’s confused. Even I can surmise she’s flirting with him. “Who? Oh, my students? They’re doing okay.” She opens her mouth to say more, but he goes back to staring out the window. The female shrugs and walks away. Unbelievable.
