The day is here
As I ran through the forest a million thoughts raced through my head. I was running to try to calm my mind but it seemed to just be making the thoughts race faster. I finally stopped at the top of the cliff that looks out over my pack’s grounds. I was the only child of the Alpha and Luna. Making me the new alpha of the pack. Typically a female alpha is unheard of but I was different in all kinds of ways. I sat on the edge with my feet dangling off the cliff. I thought about the party tonight. It was my packs turn to host the annual find your mate party. All unmated wolves of mating age from all the packs in the country get together once a year to see if they could find their mate. I typically avoids it, I am far too busy for such a thing. But this year I must host. While my mother who loved to party plan got everything together I went for a run then was going to rummage through my closet for a dress. I am not a dress up person, with big hips and average chest I didn’t like standing out anymore than I already did in a culture of slender figured women.
I got up started back down the trail. I liked running in human form. I felt not only should your wolf be strong but so should your human. I wanted to be able to battle in both forms. I wanted to always be prepared for everything. But I feared I wasn’t going to be able to able to prepare for this party no matter how hard I tried.
As I ran through the front door of the pack house my mother called my name. I went in to the kitchen to find her mother helping the omegas prepare the meal for the night. Did you see the party tent up in the backyard. My mother asked. I wondered how my mother thought i could possibly miss a tent in the backyard bigger than the house. Yes mother i said. Did you see the decor being brought in. My mother asked. Yes mother it looks beautiful I said. I knew that’s what my mother wanted to hear. Thank you dear have you found a dress yet. My mother asked knowing her daughter was dreading this party for simple fact she was gonna have to dress up. No I am heading up to do that after my shower. i replied. Fine be on your way my mother said. And with that I took off up to my room to shower and find my party dress for the night.
The feeling of the of the cold water on my skin felt so good. I decided weeks ago to start cold showers after workouts. So far it helped with muscle aches after running. It also made my showers shorter. I got in showered and got out. With hot showers i could stand under the shower head forever. I jumped out and headed to my closet. The moment i been dreading was here. What was i going to wear. There wasn’t a ton of options partly because i didn’t have a lot of reason to dress this fancy. But mostly cause i hated dressing up. I ultimately decided on the black sequin with the deep V and slit up the side that showed enough skin to look sexy, but not slutty. I only had an hour to get ready so i better start.
Just as I was sitting down to start on my makeup there was a knock at the door. Come in i said as i picked up my foundation. What do you think you’re doing i heard come from behind me. I turned around and there was my betas mate. Angela was gorgeous blonde hair, blues and the slender body i longed to have mine look like. You know you don’t do makeup. Let me help so you don’t mess it up. She looked absolutely gorgeous all the time so who was I to argue. So I placed my hands on my lap and laughed as she started to pull my hair back and do my make up.
Done she said and stepped back admiring her work. I looked in the mirror and it was perfect. Subtle enough to look like I was barely wearing any, and she pulled my hair back in a low bun. I walked into my closet and slipped into my dress. I don’t know what I was hoping this night would bring. But I was sure I could conquer anything it threw at me.
