chapter one
Running. Nothing in focus. Sharp entangling branches ripping through my legs like air rips through my lungs. Boots bogged down by the remnants of last night’s rain when it grappled me to the ground with a forceful grasp. As I look back with sweet dripping from my face shaking with fear, it ripped its claws through my neck as easy as a knife cutting straight through soft warm butter but as viciously aggressive as a hungry lion feeding on his prey. I tried to scream but with a swift swoop of his paw everything went black.

I struggle to open my eyes as blood gashes out of the void in my neck. Laying there helpless and all alone in the cold rain, that is falling on my beaten worn flesh, looking up at the full moon. ‘Is this it, is this the end’ I thought to myself as tears rolled down the side of my face to meet the moist earth beneath my body, but then, just as I had come to terms, the pain began to fade. I sat up, and placed my hand on my neck to find my fear fade and turn to confusion, the bleeding has stopped and my wound is nothing but a scar. ‘What’ I don’t understand what’s going on, what was that, that attacked me.
But all of a sudden I scream out in agony, as an agonizing pain so great pierces through my body, a pain I cannot describe, a pain so great that I could no longer sit up. a bitter taste fills my mouth as the chilling breeze turns hot and my muscles begin to throb and tense, I’m losing control of my body I can’t stop it. ‘What’s happening to me?’ I screech.
“I’m so hungry”
