As we entered the house, the smell of roast chicken wafted through the air. My stomach growled, reminding me how long it had been since our picnic lunch. Luke caught my eye and smiled, a knowing twinkle in his gaze. "Smells delicious," he said softly. I nodded, returning his smile. "Mother's roast chicken is legendary. You're in for a treat."
