Chapter 23The next morning Micah and Don, carrying a wicker basket of food and wine between them, strolled along the pier in Santa Monica, and Micah suggested stopping at a small park along the beach. “That looks like a perfect spot for a picnic.” “I agree. Let’s run before someone beats us there,” Don said, suddenly kicking off his flip-flops and running toward the spot barefoot. Micah, carrying the basket by its handles, joined him a few seconds later, and together they laid out the contents of the basket on top of a blanket.
