Chapter Five- I Should Go Now

"Neither are you." She shrugged and took another bite of her sandwich.        Xavier was taken aback, his eyes grew wide, and he was at  loss of words before he regained his composure and cleared his throat. "So you know." He smiled warmly in her direction. He was shocked, but he was also glad that she knew and wasn’t freaking out about it and that he wouldn’t have to go through the whole explanation.        She almost smiled back, when she saw his beautiful smile, but held back, and glared at him instead. "Of course I know. I’m not stupid." she said rolling her eyes, ‘I probably know more about it than you know yourself’ she thought.        "Oh no, no darling. That's not what I meant at all!" he hurried to clarify.        She fought back the blush that threatened to take over her cheeks as she looked down to place her half eaten sandwich on the kitchen island. "Do not call me your 'darling" she finished her statement with air quotes. "Anyway,” she stood straight, her head held high,  “why on Earth did you kidnap me and bring me to your home?" she finished with a raised brow. Of course she knew the reason why, but she was baiting out of curiosity to see what he could come up with or if he would tell her the truth knowing she knew what he was.         "This is your home now too." He said warmly, and walked into the kitchen completely. He stood on the other side of the kitchen island, right across from her, and watched her intently.         "You…” she was a little taken aback by his straightforward response, “are crazy." She finished exasperated, throwing her hands in the air, her sandwich completely forgotten on the kitchen island. She knew how the mate bond worked and how important it was, but wasn’t he being a little too much to someone that was supposed to not know? Did the wolves with human mates just up and kidnap them too? They definitely needed a better system than that.         "Am I?" He asked, walking ever so slowly around the kitchen island and towards her, never breaking eye contact.        She wanted to run, get as far away from him as she could, yet she found her feet glued to the ground. She couldn't even look away from his mesmerizing, bright, green eyes. ‘The magic of the mate bond’ she thought waringly. She tried to fight it; she was a very powerful being, she should be powerful even enough to fight her sister’s magic. The special thing about the mate bond however, was that the more the powerful a being was, the less it could resist it.         He got closer and closer to her, expecting her to pull back. He saw what seemed like fear in her eyes, but she didn't move, neither did she break eye contact. She just stood there watching him get closer and he took that as encouragement to keep moving forward. When he was just one step away from her, he hesitated for just half a second before he took it. He was so close to her, each of them could feel the heat radiating from the other's body. Their breaths began to sound each more labored than the last one, as he reached one hand out to touch one of her arms.  They both felt the sparks run through their bodies as soon as their skin made contact. He smiled watching her, he knew she felt it too, yet she didn't pull away, that had to be a good sign.  When she finally broke eye contact, she looked down at where his hand touched her and caressed her sweetly. His hand ran up and down her arm softly, and when she didn't pull away, he reached his other hand out to her free hand and interlaced their finger together.        She was overwhelmed with emotions. She turned to look back up to his eyes, and found herself lost in his gaze. His eyes held so much love for her, she couldn't find it in her to pull away. He stopped the rhythm his hand had taken on her arm and snaked his hand to her waist instead, pulling her even closer to him. She was startled for a second, which caused her to accidentally look at his lips. He wasn't smiling anymore, his lips were slightly parted, and she could feel his breath fanning her face. She felt him put his hand on her lower back, and bring them impossibly closer. So close she could feel every muscle of his body against hers. She watched him as he looked down at her lips, then up to her eyes again.        He wanted to kiss her so badly he felt like he would die if he didn’t. He pressed her body even closer to him, so close he could feel every one of her femenine curves against his body. He looked at her lips again, and when he looked back up at her eyes, he saw her look at his lips this time.  That was all the permission he needed. He let go of her hand and reached up to caress her face then ducked his head towards hers slowly. He could feel her inching closer to him as well. Their faces were inches apart, then centimeters, then millimeters. He could feel her lips, so close to his that he could almost taste them. He looked at her eyes one last time, before closing them in sync with her. He parted his lips just a little more, and when their lips made the slightest contact, he felt her lips move under his. "I should go now," she said breathlessly.         They both opened their eyes, still breathing hard although they hadn't even kissed. She slid her tongue over her lips, and he found himself doing the same to his wishing it was his tongue sliding over those luscious, tempting lips of hers.         She retracted her hands from his chest, where she hadn't even realized they were, then took a single step back. His arms slid off her waist, both of them instantly missing the sparks, that stopped as soon as they stopped touching. They were still looking at each other, but their breathing began to even out. "I have to feed my dog" she said as she tore her gaze from his, then turned her head to the side and reached out her hand to grab the half a sandwich that she had left on the kitchen island, and finally, her whole body around, just to run out the back door before he could stop her.        He watched the back door slam shut, and only when he heard the loud noise it made, did he come out of his trance. His eyes widened in realization, and his whole body went into a panic he had never experienced before in his life. He ran out the door to catch her, but by the time he made it outside there was absolutely no sign of her, not even a scent to follow. His whole body shook due to his wolf’s despair and he felt hopeless at the thought of having lost his mate right after he found her. He couldn’t think of anything to do; there was only one thing that came to his mind at that moment so he screamed his frustration out as loud as he could for the world to hear.         "s**t!"
