Chapter Two- Stupid Mutts

2040 Words
"Day one in this place and I'm already bored out of my mind!" Lucy yelled as she flopped down on her bed. She purposely opened the mindlink for Death to hear it loud and clear. In return, all se heard was a giggle from her much to cheerful sister, followed by her sweet voice "you only have 364 more to go" and Lucy could almost see her sisters  irritatingly, mockingly, innocent face in her head.      Death had made all the arrangements for her to live like she thought a snotty, upper-class, 22 year old human lived. She had given her a human identity with the corresponding documentation, a bank account with a hefty monthly deposit from her 'parents', a nice apartment in a good location, a sports car, a cell phone, and even a dog. Death even got her into college, and had her full wardrobe moved to the apartment, along with all her personal belongings. The dog was a pure white husky, with mesmerizing blue eyes. He was big, fluffy and beautiful, and she hated it. She had to take the thing out and feed it every day, and take care of it, and take it to the vet. Heck, she could barely remember to feed herself every day, how was she supposed to manage a dog? Having a dog wasn't necessary for the bet, Death had just done it to aggravate her, and it had worked.        After getting everything set up around the apartment, and giving the dog room for himself, she got to thinking about what humans did for fun in a place like that. 'The beach is pretty close to here, should I go surfing? No, it's too cold, it is winter after all. That automatically eliminates the pool as well. TV? too boring. Bowling? Just ew. Ice cream? mmm, again, too cold. Stupid cold. I hate cold weather, couldn't she send me somewhere warmer?'      She suddenly got up and flashed into her closet. She had the perfect activity that would take up all day. Shopping!       Suddenly, she felt a sharp pain in her head and a loud ringing in her ears, it was so bad that she almost lost control of herself and caused the whole building to shake, but just like it came it was suddenly gone. Then a giggle came into her mind followed by Death's fake innocent voice, "tsk, tsk, tsk. Remember little sis, no powers." She giggled again before she continued "that was a warning for being the first time, if it happens again I won't go easy on you. Keep in mind that you made a bet with Death herself" she then laughed wholeheartedly, and Lucy could almost see her mocking face in her head.        Lucy's blood was boiling, "Quit bluffing, you're the one that should be worried sister, you signed a deal with the devil."         With that, she cut off the link and with new found determination, she looked for the nearest mall in her GPS and set off.       She made a quick stop at a coffee shop that apparently human girls liked a lot. 'Starstruck?, what in the world is that thing supposed to be?' She thought, looking up at the coffee shop logo.  She went in to try it, but she didn't get what all the commotion was about. She couldn't understand why people liked it so much or why it was such a popular place, the coffee wasn't even that good.        To her, there was nothing like her predecessor's homemade coffee, but she still needed to feed her body, so she took her coffee and biscuit and left.         She made it to the mall in thirty minutes and parked in the closest parking spot she could find. She walked in thinking about what stores to visit, but she didn't miss the looks some men outside a store were giving her.  Her being her, she walked right up to the store. She stopped in front of the men, lowered her dark sunglasses, looked at them from head to toe, then back at their eyes, and made a disgusted sound, before lifting her glasses back up and walking into the store.      Knowing the type of scum they were, she wanted to do so much more, she wanted to make their blood boil inside their bodies for looking at women and using them the way they did, but she couldn't. She couldn't afford another one of Death's tricks with so many people around, and she was determined to win the stupid bet no matter what.       Plus, she knew she'd have her chance to make those men pay for all their crimes once they died. It was why she liked her job as keeper of hell, she got to keep all the tainted souls and use any means necessary to clean them. She got to purify the world so to speak, and even if humans thought of her as the epitome of evil and the creator of darkness, she was still happy to look after the good souls; she was an angel after all.         She went into several stores and bought a few things here and there. It was past noon when she decided it was time to eat. She went out and left her bags in her car and made her way back towards the food court. She decided to have Mexican food. After all, she technically had a Mexican sister.       It was a weird thing when it came to thinking about it, but her and her sisters all had a nationality. Selene was Greek, Diana was Mexican, and she was Spanish. The Moon Goddess, Death, and the Devil, all sisters, yet Diana and her were never put together with Selene in a human conversation. Humans thought of Diana and her as evil, while Selene was seen as a forgiving Goddess. They couldn't even imagine them being related at all. Heck, they couldn't even imagine her and Diana were women to begin with; humans just had no idea how it all worked!        There were only a few girls in line, so she decided to go to the end, after all, it's what a human would do. She sighed when it was finally her turn to order. She was so hungry by now, she was totally oblivious to her surroundings. She wasn't used to the needs of a human body, so some emotions were new and overwhelming to her.        'Luci, remember to control your scent at all times in case there are any other semi humans around.' The voice of her eldest sister came into her head through the mindlink she shared with her sisters.        'Oh joy, so she told you about it?' Luci almost rolled her eyes.        'Lucia! Block your scent and stop it with the sarcasm, I am just trying to help you out.'        'Fine, thank you so much.' With that she closed the link and blocked her scent making it seem like any other human's. She hadn't smelt anything out of normal. Then again, she didn't know what exactly normal was for a place like that.       She shrugged it off and sat down to eat her food. After she was done she felt full of energy to continue exploring the over one hundred stores in the mall; there was even a salon in there, and a bookstore. She got up and discarded her trash. When she was walking towards the other side of the food court, she caught a particular scent, it was musky and made her a little drowsy, but in a good way. It smelt like nature, like the trees when the sun comes out after a storm. She couldn't explain it, she was so drawn to it, but it was faint since there were so many people around, but when she walked by a group of teenagers, she noticed the scent was the strongest there, meaning it was from one of the three men there. She didn't have time to figure it out, so she just kept on walking to the next store. As soon as she rounded the corner, she took a deep breath of fresh air to calm her senses, but it backfired on her and all she felt was a heavy regret in her heart, it was almost a little painful, but she shrugged it off and kept walking.        It had been, at least, two hours when she caught that scent again and her senses went wild. She looked to her right to see the same group of teenagers outside the store. There were two girls and three boys, all of them extremely good looking. She noticed one of the boys and one of the girls were looking directly at her. They were both quite tan, light brown hair, hers was almost blond,  and forest green eyes, no doubt they were siblings. The other girl had long chocolate brown hair with bangs and wore thick glasses, and the other two guys were just as buff as the first, but one had short black hair and was shorter than the other men of the group, the other had longer brown hair and held onto the girl with glasses quite closely.       She just pretended not to notice them and walked out of the store though the other door. She walked from store to store and everywhere she went three of the five teenagers followed, just the siblings and the black haired shorter guy. She was starting to get annoyed. What if they were kidnappers, serial killers, or something worse? She hated those people with a burning passion, that's why she didn't mind keeping their souls in hell, so they couldn't come back to Earth again. Their aura wasn't like that though, so she knew they weren't any threat to the humans.       The boy and girl with brown hair had left long ago, but the other three had followed her all around the mall rigorously, and she was getting sick and tired of it. She went into the bookstore last, and decided she would stay the rest of the afternoon there. Hopefully those stupid humans would leave her the heck alone by then. She didn't know what it was that made her so uneasy about them, it's not like they could hurt her anyways.         Xavier saw his beautiful mate as she gracefully picked out a book, read the cover, then scrunched up her nose and put it back. 'So cute' came his wolf's thoughts. 'Whipped dog!' He thought back, and let his wolf slip to the back of his mind. He agreed though, their mate was breathtakingly beautiful.        "Dude, go up there and just talk to her, we have been following her for hours!" Adam exclaimed, rubbing his face with the palms of his hands. Ethan and Lily had gotten tired of the chasing, and had left to have a 'date' on their own, leaving Adam and Annie to accompany Xavier to follow his mate all around.        "Are you even sure she's the one? I mean, her being human and all," Annie shrugged, "plus, she doesn't look like your type" she added, not even turning to look back at them.  Her sight was totally focused on her brother's supposed mate. She was pretty, she'd give him that, but attraction wasn't enough to prove she was his mate. "She's in the Spanish books section, what if she can't even speak English, X?" She thought out loud.        "Racist!" Adam accused. "I can read Spanish too, what's wrong with that? That's a lame argument and you know it" He said poking her in the cheek.        She slapped his hand away before he added. "X, you know what they say, Latinas are the best in bed." He winked, before receiving a slap in the back of the head from both his friends.        Lucy could barely stifle a laugh as she saw the black haired guy get slapped in the back of the head. She had gotten closer and, with the help of her enhanced hearing, she had managed to hear his remark, while pretending to look for a book in the Spanish section. She wanted to laugh at the violence, but was less than pleased to have them follow her around, more so now that she had gotten close enough to realize they were all werewolf.        'Stupid mutts!' She thought angrily. She hated werewolves and dogs, and anything that howled at the full moon. 'I'm not even a Latina!'
