Chapter 1
GASP!
"Bad dream again, sweetie?" Dad looked at me, eyes full of pity. I nodded slowly, still trying to calm my racing heart. He enveloped me in a bear hug, wiping the trickling sweat on my forehead as he said, "Ohh... hon... I'm so sorry you're dealing with this." I tightened the hug a bit. I knew that dad sometimes missed mom dearly, and this was one of those moments, and a hug was all I could offer him. "It's okay, dad. On the bright side, at least I don't have to remember the dream," of course that was not the bright side. I was only trying to calm him down.
He kissed my forehead and chuckled a bit, with a small smile on his face. Dad didn't say anything. His silence alone spoke volumes. My eyelids became heavy, and soon after, I drifted off to sleep.

Third person's POV
Deja woke up the next morning fullyrefreshed as if nothing had happened the night before. There was only one thing on her mind, "OHH MY GOD! I AM SO LATE." Her cries echoed through the entire house. Deja was late for her lecture. Her house was literally 30 minutes away from college. See, this was why she'd preferred to live in the dorms with her peers, but her dad was against the idea.
The poor man wanted to protect his one and only daughter from dangers the world could bring.
The poor girl made it to college, still tardy. Unfortunately, she got to class halfway through the lesson, and that displeased her. On her way to the lecturehall, she hit into a figure twice her size and landed on her buttocks right on the floor. She heard a few grunts and incomprehensible complaints, almost as if they complaints were in a foreign language. Her nostrils got a whiff of sandalwood. Deja blinked for a second, and the mysterious figure twice her size was gone.
Deja could've sworn she heard and saw something, right? She smelt something, too. One thing's for sure, she wasn't crazy. At least her daily nightmares hadn't driven her crazy yet.
All she could do was brush it off and head to class.

The rest of the day was nothing short of plain and normal. She buried herself in books and assignments, nothing out of the ordinary. "Deja, girl, as your bestie, I simply can not let you miss this party of a lifetime," Breanna, Deja's best friend, said, only trying to convince her book worm of a friend. Breanna was so confident and beautiful and had a great sense of style. Everyone wanted to be her or with her. She was the daughter of Mrs Blazi, who happened to be mayor. Deja and Breanna have been besties since they were 5. They were pretty much 'locked-in'.
"Bree, I can't. You know how I feel about parties. Not my -"
"-your scene. I know. Also, Eric will be attending the party." That name didn't really mean anything to her anymore. In her past life at the mere mention of Eric Carter, she would've fainted. Anyway, she felt like she's lived this life before. Deja used to be so infatuated with Eric, but for some reason, she was no longer in love with him. If anything, the mere thought of being with him made her feel like puking. All she could do was nod her head, seeing how bad her dear friend wanted her to tag along. Breanna, excited, crushed Deja in a hug. "Deja, Professor Foley said to see him in his office." A voice said from behind her. It was Elena, a girl she was in class with.
Ohh no. Could it be because she happened to be tardy today? Of course it was. She just knew it was. Her stomach twisted into knots, her palms all wet from her sweat. The girl could only calm herself down and hear out the professor.
Her walk to the professor's office was slow. I mean, she wasn't exactly ecstatic about being lectured about tardiness. Finally standing right in front of Professor Foley's office, contemplating whether or not to see the old man. Of course, she couldn't help but listen to her gut.
"I was surprised when my brightest student became tardy," the professor said with his chair, faced away from the door and to the window. How cliché. "Uhmm-"
"Grab a seat!" His voice was laced with authority and seriousness, for a usually serious man this was something she wasn't used to. He stood up from his chair, finally facing her.
"Miss O'Hara, you know I don't tolerate tardiness. Now, do you know what I do to tardy learners?" Professor Foley said from behind her. His face close to her ear, his scent in her nose. The man was deathly close. Of course, she just shook her head as she had no idea. "Let me tell—or rather let me show you," the shameless old man touched her thigh, removing the skirt so he could view more of her brown, luscious legs.
Deja's POV
At that very moment, I yanked my leg right of his grip. I was so shocked cause I never would have thought that my favorite professor would be capable of such. As fast as I yanked my leg out of his grip, I slapped him right across the face and then dashed out of his office.
My heart was beating so hard in my ears, tears threatening to show themselves. My vision was nothing but blurry as I sharply turned the corner. I hit into something hard, once again I landed on my butt. 'Why the heck was I hitting into things today?' A loud groan interrupted my thoughts. I looked up trying to get a view of who I'd bumped into. I was already preparing myself to apologize until I heard, "Watch it! Some of us have places to be." Landon Carter, Eric Carter's cold, handsome half brother.
He was older than Eric by 2 months. Unlike his younger brother, Eric, Landon was more about getting things done and focusing on important stuff than "young adult" stuff. Landon was standing tall just above me looking like a Greek God. His jet black hair swept back, not one strand out of place. The buttons to his shirt were not all the way done, leaving room to view a bit of his beautiful muscular chest. No wonder half of the school LOVED Landon Carter. Sandalwood once again invaded my nose. That's when it knocked in my head. I BUMPED INTO HIM EARLIER ON TODAY!
"Maybe you should learn how to not stand like a statue in the middle of the hall," I replied back, all snarky, not even holding back. With that I stood up and left, not waiting for him to reply back.
