Chapter 8: My Wife!

1268 Words
It had been a few days since I last saw her. I occasionally met Ms. Daisy as she briefed me on my job and their demands. I underestimated her when she said she will make sure to get her money’s worth. I didn’t know back then she meant what she said.   I was so busy with the development of the new product that I practically lived in the lab. I heard news of Kaira from Ms. Daisy from time to time. It seemed like she was as busy as I was. She didn’t want to delay the launch of our products and thus she planned to stick with the previous schedule. Instead of giving out the samples she planned on directly selling the product using me while I am still hot and trending.   The marketing was on a whole different level that it left people guessing. The products will be packed in a gift box making the buyers curious about the surprise gifts along with the product they purchased. The surprise gift may include any products from the Crescent Moon or any gift vouchers for any products from the Agrwal Group & Co.   I heard she stroke a deal with her uncle for collaborating with her family’s business.   Liam was taking care of Raven so I was a little relieved. I heard about Raven’s condition from Liam every day since I couldn’t go for a visit.   Finally after working day and night I finished the products and sent the samples to the head office. I was so beat that I immediately collapsed on the couch at my lab.   The products they wanted to launch was a mini natural makeup kit. I thought it won’t be much attractive and thus I tried to create a lip balm with just these ingredients honey, grapefruit essence and shea butter this balm is very soothing and highly recommended for the people who have dry or damaged lips.   After many trial and errors I finally got the perfect product. I am damn sure this ultra-smoothing lip balm will be the best seller out of all!   The day of the launch came. Kaira along with Ms. Daisy and the other few representatives went to our main store and launched the product to the public. Only a few well known press and media people were invited for the launch.   She explained about our products smoothly without any blunders. I didn’t know she would look so good on the cameras. The celebrity that signed a contract with Crescent Moon was also present. The products were being received quite well by the public and just like I expected, the lip balm was a huge success. It was completely sold-out in just the second day of its release.   As the popularity of the product soared, the brand image was raised to another level. I was lazing around in my villa at the outskirts of the city while I had Liam continuing to take care of Raven. I, so badly wanted a break. I was too lazy and tired to even get up from my bed until the constant knocking and the ringing of the door bells drove me crazy!   I regretted for not  hiring a housekeeper for the first time!   I dragged my lazy bum out of the bed. I didn’t even bother to wear a shirt. My hair was messy. I didn’t bother to take a shower for god knows how long. I went down to open the door with just my pants on. The thing that happened next immediately made me regret for not wearing them….   Her eyes were scanning me up and down with her mouth wide open that even a fly could pass by so easily. After looking all she wanted, she rubbed her mouth with the back of her hand while she lowered her hand in pure embarrassment. Her cheeks were delicately tinted a soft pink as she tried hard to look away.   She looked so cute that I had the urge to pinch her and my naughty hands did it. She looked at me with her beautiful Amber eyes and pouted. My god! I swear, I forgot to breathe!   “Looked enough? Or want to look more?” Something in me wanted to tease her.   “I… I… Didn’t plan on looking! Why are you running around half naked?” As expected she rebuked and continued to pout.   With a smile on my lips I leaned to her ear and spoke in a husky voice.   “You can look all you want after we get married. I won’t stop you…”   She pushed me aside as she walked in. After throwing a bunch of papers on the table she collapsed on the couch in the living room. She looked so tired and haggard.   “What is this about?” “Sign it and everything on it will be yours.”   I blinked at her as I took the papers on my hand. It had a share transfer form and application for marriage certificate. I was baffled.   “I can understand about the marriage certificate but what’s with this share transfer form?” She simply looked at me and answered nonchalantly. “Oh, that… consider it as my wedding gift.” “Aren’t you scared that one day I might make you go broke?” “You are free to give it a try.”   This woman… she is indeed interesting. I have never met anyone like her before. With a grin on my face I signed them both.   “So when do you want to go and submit this form?” I waved the application for marriage certificate in front of her. “Whenever you want.” “But don’t women like to have a big wedding? Are you sure this is fine?” “It’s not real anyways. So why should we bother.”   She had a point. We agreed for it to be for only one year. But still, hearing her put it in words hurt….   “Oh, one more thing. You will have to come and live with me. Starting from tomorrow.”   I nodded as I continued to stare at her face blankly. She looked my way with confusion as she touched her face.   “Is there something on my face?” “Yes… you look terrible! What happened?” She sighed deeply as she buried her face in the cushion before answering me.   “I was so busy that I could barely eat or sleep. No wonder it is showing on my face.” I knew she was busy but didn’t expect her to be so busy to such an extent. Then again her position as the CEO is nothing to be taken lightly of. I sighed as I suggested to make her something to eat since I also have not eaten anything since morning. Not to mention it was already noon. To think that I had been bumming around for such a long time… *Sigh*   I took a quick shower and headed down to prepare something to eat. But I found her sound asleep on the couch without a care in the world. I carried her to my room... Since I was too lazy to begin with I just cooked some instant noodles for myself.   I went to check up on her wondering if she was hungry. She looked like she was having a nightmare as she mumbled something under her breath.   “Help… Help… me…” Whenever I had nightmares, my adoptive mother hugged me tight to make them go away. It always worked for me. I didn’t know what she was dreaming about. But I wanted her to have a good and peaceful rest.   I lied beside her and hugged her tight in my arms hoping she won’t be haunted by any bad dreams as I whispered softly in her ear.   “I will protect you. Sleep well, my wife.”
