Chapter 2: A drama addict.

She tried to change the topic by inquiring me for my visit. I gave her a cold stare. “Oh Right! It was I who called you earlier…. I promise I won’t do this again.” She apologized using her secret technique, puppy dog eyes. “Okay fine. So now let’s get down to business. What happened to the samples which we were supposed to receive yesterday?” She adjusted herself properly as she answered my question. “We have been informed that there were some side effects during the trial. So they have asked for another month before they can provide a quality product.” She explained with a straight face.   A month, she said. But we were supposed to release our products in a month. I felt a bit uneasy about the situation. But still, I decided to give her a nod.   As I was about to leave her room an arm pulled me backward. I was a little surprised but at the same time I very much knew what was about to come next.   “Kira. Look at this. Isn’t this female lead cute? I am currently hooked on this drama called ‘Destined Lovers’. Today was the release of the first episode and you cannot believe how hard I fell for it. The story is like this. A poor but kind hearted girl meets a rich and arrogant young man where she somehow ended up sleeping with him. After a few months she discovered that she got pregnant and that man tracks her to get his revenge as that incident slandered his name. To give her a hard time he decided to enter into a contractual marriage with her. Can you believe it? How could he do that?”   She continued to fire away her thoughts on that particular drama which she was currently hooked on. After listening to the story I couldn’t help but feel disgusted. “Disgusting.” I rolled my eyes as I freed myself from her iron grip only to see her eyes filled with love which made me feel creepy. She had that look of finally meeting her soul mate which literally gave me goosebumps. This girl would look really cute if only she kept her mouth shut.   “What I meant was, why should it always be the girl who is kinder, weaker and poorer while the guy is some haughty rich brat? Isn’t that disgusting? Aren’t they being rude to female entrepreneurs like me? Shouldn’t a girl be rich and independent? Why is it always men that are supposed to be some hotshots?” I corrected myself before she continued to misunderstand further. The moment I finished uttering those words, her eyes, which were filled with love a little earlier was almost instantly turned into that of disdain.   “Not every woman is blessed with brains like yours. Sometimes try to use your heart and feel it instead of reading through all the situations using your head.” She rolled her eyes as she continued to sneer at me.   When we were at the height of disagreement the door was slammed opened from the outside ending our conversation. I caught the sight of Rick at the entrance with cold sweat running down his face. He was panting heavily as he ran all the way from the elevator to Daisy’s office which is roughly 20 meters.   Without catching his breath he looked at Daisy and reported.   “We are in trouble, Ms. Daisy, just like you suspected, they were bribed. And our competitor got their hands on our products. I got a news like they will be releasing the samples soon.”   The room was filled with silence while Daisy looked like she was about to kill someone. But I couldn’t follow their conversation in the least bit. I tried to make my presence known by clearing my throat as they both seemed to have forgotten that I was still there…   Rick looked like he saw a ghost as he jumped a few steps back before he opened his mouth again to speak. “Sca… Scarlet? How long have you been here??” He looked literally surprised which yet again made me realize that my presence was truly forgotten and that too, not just once, but twice in a row.   After letting out a big sigh, I clarified him with a bit of annoyance that I have been there the whole damn time!   “Daisy, would you care to explain.” I raised a brow at her. She paused for a while in the place where she stood before she looked me in the eye.   “Scarlet, to be honest, the situation felt odd. We were supposed to release our brand’s latest products in a month. As per the schedule we were supposed to give out the tested and verified samples by tomorrow to create a buzz among the public. But now they came up with a ridiculous excuse like there were side effects during the trial. How absurd can that be?”   I continued to listen to Daisy as she had a point. I helped her finish what she was about to say next.   “After some investigation from our end, you found out that they were bribed and the samples and the finished products which we were supposed to receive somehow got into the hands of our competitor.”   I let out a big sigh as I scratched the back of my head before I continued.   ”I think I know who is behind this. Come, let’s go and clean up some mess.” I winked at Daisy as I walked out. She followed me shortly.   By the time the chauffeur got the car, daisy located a particular piece of s**t. As we boarded the car, she instructed him to drive to Central Plaza.   “After doing such a shameless thing, he dares to visit our store.” She looked more annoyed than me, which was only amusing to watch. With a smirk on my lips, I laid back on my seat as I pulled up the glove on my right hand. The moment we arrived she stormed to our store as I followed her behind. The man who was responsible for this mess, stood in front of us dressed in a brown suit, as he continued to shamelessly flirt with my step-sister Dhiya. I couldn’t be any more disappointed in life to think that this man is my so called fiance.
