Chapter 10
Decamping to Leah’s was a surprisingly good decision. After helping me move some of my clothing and things from our mother’s house to hers (during a time when our mother wasn’t home), Leah put me up in the guest room and I instantly fell into a comfortable cohabitation with her and her family. My brother-in-law, Adam, welcomed me with no weirdness, and my niece and nephew, Kate and Jacob, were happy to have someone else around to interrogate and play with.
Leah’s house was only a few blocks from the Glenview train station, so I was able to get to and from work easily. I could have rented a car while the insurance company tried to decide what to do about the Audi, but the last thing I wanted was drive anytime soon.
