Chapter 5 When Alex came to the door Friday night, he wasn’t dressed for an evening of bowling. He looked, instead, like he was ready for bed. No, he wasn’t wearing pajamas, but his white V-neck T-shirt, gray sweatpants, and white socks were a step away from sleepwear. “Hey, Scott,” he said, ushering me inside. “Thanks for coming. Let me take your coat.” “I thought we were going bowling?” I asked, sliding out of my jacket before handing it to him. “Yeah, about that,” he said, hanging my jacket in the hall closet. “I’m not really feeling it, you know?” It took every ounce of strength I had not to go for his throat.
