CHAPTER THIRTY Petra walked Elias into Vaughn’s office. “Sorry I’m late.” “It’s fine, Mrs. Haddad. You’re here now.” Vaughn closed the door behind her. “And you brought your son.” Vaughn’s tone clearly showed his displeasure. Petra cringed, recoiling from him. Did he expect her to come alone? He had phoned her last night and offered to come to her place to go over some papers. She told him she would stop by the office instead. When he insisted that she come early in the morning before the office staff arrived, she agreed, thinking nothing of it. Vaughn sounded in a hurry to get things done.
