Atropos looked around. She was on the battlefield once again, but this time it was different. What she saw wasn't one of her visions but the fracture of her memory. Better to say, it was her long-buried secret.
She knew that she would have to pay for it, but she didn't realize that it would have to be in her sister's life. She asked herself if she would change her mind if she knew what the witch queen would do to Lachesis, and that question brought her back.
She looked around. She was looking for her sisters, but there was no one alive around her. Only hundreds of dead bodies. She was in the middle of the fields of death. She slowly walked along and wondered why all creatures were so easily blinded by greediness. But she didn't understand it at all. They got everything: freedom, knowledge, a place to live. Yet nothing could satisfy their greed. They turned against each other and even against the gods.
She saw it coming long ago, but she didn't see how much the whole thing would change her and her sisters. This war changed them all.
She didn't know how true this was until she saw both sisters. Atropos almost didn't recognize them. They stood side by side, covered in blood and killing everyone who came too close to them. What surprised her was what she saw in their eyes. There was almost nothing left from her sisters. They became killing machines. They were using their goddess power and abilities to mercilessly kill every living being till the very last witch was standing against them. It was the witch queen herself. The witch queen knew that she had lost everything, yet she was proudly standing against them, knowing that soon she would meet her sisters. The witch queen didn't have a chance against the Atropos sisters, yet she wasn't afraid of her fate.
Atropos knew that soon she had to cut the witch queen's life tread, but when she was standing there looking at the witch queen, she knew that she couldn't let her sister kill the witch queen and become a monster that annihilated the whole species. She knew that the consequences would be enormous, but, at that time, she thought that everything would be better than seeing her sisters suffering the whole eternity just because of that moment.
Atropos closed her eyes, and for the first time in her life, she did something totally forbidden. She turned the flow of fate.
With her ability to affect one's mood, she calmed her sisters down. As soon as she got their attention, she convinced them to let the witch queen's fate to her. She never lied to her sisters, so they believed her, and they let the witch queen for her, and she decided. She took the witch queen to a deep cave where no one could find her, and she left.
Atropos told her sisters that the witch queen was dead when she came back. Atropos was afraid that they would hear in her voice that something was wrong, so she just nodded. She thought that everything had ended at that moment, but she couldn't be more wrong. It was only the beginning.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Back in her room, Atropos walked back and forth, trying to find how to fix everything. She tried so hard, yet she didn't find the solution that her sister wouldn't have to suffer. She was desperate.
Suddenly, her thoughts were interrupted by a knocking on the door, but she didn't have time to answer because another vision took her to a distant place.
Atropos was in the deep forest. She looked around, trying to find something to tell her where she was, but there were only trees. She didn't understand why her vision brought her to that place, but something caught her attention suddenly. Atropos heard a noise. Her legs moved automatically following the noise.
After a while, her legs stopped when her eyes saw the most beautiful lake. The scenery was so charming that she almost forgot what brought her there, but soon the peaceful lake surface was disturbed by someone that walked right into the water looking like the person was going to swim. The person looked familiar, but Atropos was too far away to see who it was.
After a few steps, when Atropos saw the person disappearing under the water surface, she realized that the person hadn't been coming to the lake to swim. She wondered why she went to this beautiful place for suicide when her thoughts were suddenly interrupted by the unbearable wolf's howl. Soon after, the big black wolf showed up. It surprised her, and she kept staring at that beautiful creature for a second. Not because he looked impressive, but because she knew the wolf. She saw the wolf in her late vision. It was the same wolf that was dying with Clotho.
When reality hit her, she didn't wait for anything, and she ran right to the place where she saw the body disappearing under the water. She knew that this was only a vision, and she couldn't change it, but she passed the wolf and jumped right into the lake. She swam right to where she saw Clotho's body disappear and dip down. Thanks to the clear water, Atropos saw the body almost immediately floating only a few inches from her. She tried to touch her, but her hands came through her body as Atropos was nothing else than a ghost. She should have been awaiting it, but she was still frustrated when it happened.
Atropos knew that this was only a fragment of the possible future. Therefore, there was no chance of having any impact on it. She looked at Clotho's dead body floating near her. She couldn't save her, but she would at least bring her body back where it belonged. Atropos closed her eyes, and she used all her power. She smiled when she opened her eyes and saw Clotho's body slowly moving towards the shore. Atropos saw a black wolf's nose touching Clotho's nose to get her attention a while ago. He licked her face, seeing that she didn't react, but even then, she was just lying as before. When he saw that nothing would help, he howled so sadly that even Atropos could feel how heartbroken he was.
Suddenly, the wolf stopped, and he looked at the site, sniffing around as something caught his attention. Soon, two other people showed up in front of them. One of them was a girl. Her beauty made Atropos step forward. She wanted to touch her to ensure that she wasn't just her illusion. Atropos was used to seeing beautiful people because every God and Goddess was known for their beauty, but the beauty of this girl was somehow unique. Her pale porcelain skin was sparkling in the sun. It looked like she wasn't walking yet, gently floating when she moved. Her crystal ice-blue eyes remembered Atropos in her new home. But what caught Atropos's eyes was the girl's lips. Those red lips made Atropos crazy. It made her forget everything and think about only how to quickly taste them.
When Atropos realized what she was thinking, she stepped back. She was disgusted with herself. Her sister's dead body was only a few inches from her, yet she disrespected her with those lustful thoughts.
Atropos closed her eyes, trying to take back control of her mind, and when she opened them again, the vision was over, and she was back in the Crystal Palace, back in her room.
Finally, the vision was over. However, Atropos knew that the beautiful face of that unknown girl would hunt her for eternity.
