It was 10:44pm Obiora hasn't arrive. Aminat waited patiently looking at her wall clock sounding tik tok, it was already 11:30pm, she was anxious checking her clock. Her phone viberated , checking her phone, it was her husband Obiora, she felt relieved and sighted hmmm...........as her husband was explaining what happened at the office to her, she was frightened, when Obiora felt she couldn't bear it, he had to hung up and said he is presently at the police station and when he is out he will explain what actually happened to her . Aminat disinclined him to hang up. On getting to the police station, she exhaled deeply. Aminat wasn't allowed to see her husband, she had to call her lawyer, Mr.Idowu but he would not be available, he then told Aminat to see the D.P.O in order for her to see her husband. Aminat went back to the police counter to ask for the D.P.O ,she was told that the D.P.O was not around that he went for a meeting with the Governor but will be back forthwith. In a jiffy the D.P.O is back. Aminat saw the D.P.O's car she waited patiently for him to come in. Mr.saliu a dark skinned man entered the office. At first Aminat did not know that he is the D.P.O, immediately she realized that he is the D.P.O, tears rolled from her big eye balls, she was shattered and didn't know what to say. Instantly she gathered herself and wiped her tears with handkerchief she collected from her daughter's (Faezat) teacher, aunty Taiwo. Aminat pleaded with the D.P.O but he insisted on seeing the accused lawyer so he can stand in for him. Aminat called her sisters Rokibat and Aishat to come to her aid. They both rushed to the police station. Aishat and Rokibat asked to see Aminat, officer Tunde who was at the counter saw Rokibat shifting her legs and he asked what happened, she then asked for the rest room. Aminat came out and ask for Rokibat, she saw a light skinned woman putting on blue short gown with black crox and black scarf not known that it is Aishat "she has really changed" Aminat said, they all went to see Mr. saliu and pleaded him to release Obiora "my husband has nothing to do with the money laundering" Aminat said, Mr.saliu looking at her from the angle he is seated with some files and The Nigeria flag on his desk, he removed his glasses and said Obiora still need to stay in the police custody for further questioning. Aminat called her lawyer Mr.Idowu to help talk to the D.P.O so he can release her husband, after the lawyer spoke to Mr.Daily they concluded that his wife should stand for him then she would provide him whenever he is needed for questioning.They signed the necessary documents and left for home, the couples thanked Aishat and Rokibat and they left for their various houses. chapter 2 Obiora Sat on the couch deep in thought, Aminat came from the bedroom standing and looking at her husband with a glass of cold water she brought out from the fridge that was given to them as gift from her in-law on their wedding day. she came close to her husband and sat down beside him and consoled him.He sighted hmmm........"I didn't sign any document at the office, I was even surprised when I saw the police......."( knocks at the door) "who is there??" Aminat asked but no reply, she stood up and went to check who was at the door knocking but she saw no-one, she then looked around. On her car she saw a letter with no name on it, she took the letter in. Her husband asked"who was that??" she didn't say anything, she gave the letter to him. He opened the letter fearfully, checking the letter he saw " we just started", he kept wondering who could it be, asked what happened then he showed her the letter, she also wondered who could have sent the letter. While sitting on the couch his phone rung, it was a private number that called him" I told you I'll deal with you mercilessly, I hope you 've seen the letter I sent to you we just I said, my regards to your wife" she said. In anger Obiora kicked the table and broke a glass cup. His wife calmed him down and packed the broken glass cup and they both went in. Chapter 3 It was on monday morning around 6:45am, Aminat had prepared his favourite breakfast fried egg and sliced bread with hot tea and served it on the dinning table, she went to call him inside the bedroom so he can have his breakfast before going to work, Obiora came to eat at the dinning and went inside the bedroom back, he was dressing for work, his wife helped him with his tie and his briefcase and then she saw him out to his car garage and chose a red colour to brighten up his day. He was driving happily seeing the infrastructural development, the tarred road and so on that made him forget his problem, his phone rung, he checked who was calling him, it was his sister in-law Rokibat that called...........hello Obi, how 're you doing?, hope you slept well, you 're sounding somehow where 're you?, she asked, he replied I'm inside the car going to work, I am doing fine thank you. Rokibat was excited to hear that he has resumed work and she thanked God because she was oblivious she then said " your wife didn't me you'll be starting work today" Obiora said it was the managing director of his company that called him to resume that whenever he is needed for questioning he will show up at the police station since his wife stood for him as his guarantor, "okay" she said. Rokibat prayed for him, he told her about the letter they got from that a drifter, she advised him to take the letter to the police station to show them increase if anything happens and they hung up and he drove off. Obiora got to his working place looking happy as he was warmly welcomed by the receptionist and the secretary then he headed to his office smiling. He entered his office and looked around, his office was well arranged, well swept and neatly cleaned. He sat on his chair, thanked God and prayed. Obiora checked his wrist watch it was already 8:39am he was set to work, he started his computer, he checked his drawer and brought out a file to sort, he was still cross checking the file he had sorted the last time he was at the office when the General manager Mr.Thomas called the secretary miss Akinyo to ask obiora to see him at his office. He stood up immediately the message was delivered to him and he went to the General manager's office. He knocked twice "enter" Mr.Thomas said he entered and greeted him "Good morning sir" Obiora said" Good morning Mr Obiora, you can have your sit" the general manager said he sat on a black leather couch waited for Mr Thomas to be through with what he was doing on the system. Chapter 4 Mr Thomas stood up from the system and went to meet Obiora at where he was seated, they both stood to exchange handshake and sat down. Mr Thomas asked how the incident happened..........Hmmmm Obiora sighted he reminisced and said I was at the office on that fateful day when they brought the file which I did not sign then later I discovered that the file was missing, I asked the secretary about the missing file, she said she did not know anything about the missing file. You should have tell me since I am the general manager of this company" Mr. Thomas said. Obiora was in the general manager's office till it was 12:05pm when he checked the wall clock that was hung beside the president's picture. Mr Thomas stood up for a while and went back to his unfinished work. After some minutes Obiora was set to go to his office he stood up and said "I will like to take my leave now because I have a lot of files to sort on the table"'......"alright" Mr Thomas replied, Obiora took his leave and headed to his office, he sat for a while then he remembered the letter he go from a anonymous person that he need to show the general manager. He went back to the general manager's office, he entered without knocking, Mr Thomas was afraid that who could have entered his office without knocking, Obiora went forth to meet him" I want.......Mr Thomas cuts in" so you are the one but you left here not quite long and courtesy demands you knock before entering any place"....."I'm sorry sir" Obiora said and he brought out the letter to show him" pls give me few minutes, you can have your sit" Mr Thomas said. Obiora sat on a black leather couch, he poured water into a glass up and drank while he waited for Mr Thomas to be done. Mr Thomas switched off his computer and went straight to meet Obiora and sat beside him then he asked for the letter and he gave him. Mr Thomas opened the letter and he was shocked and said inside him" who could this be?..... who could have sent such letter to this innocent man?.....and sighted hmmmm, he told Obiora that they need to go to the police station to show them the letter he got from the unknown person, they left the office and went to the general manager's car and drove to the police station. Chapter 5 They got to the police station, they met a police woman and asked to see the D.P.O and the police woman replied that he is inside. They went inside to see the D.P.O. Mr.saliu, the D.P.O was in his office relaxing after he had his lunch. they entered and greeted him good afternoon, he replied and offered them seat" we're here to be aware of the letter Mr Obiora got from a anonymous person" they brought the letter out and gave Mr.Saliu, he opened the letter and said " we 'll work on it, they all exchanged handshakes and they went back to their offices. Obiora came back from work tired, as he entered the compound his wife went to welcome him with smiles all over her face, he got down from the car, Aminat went to collect the briefcase that was in his hand and welcomed him. They entered the sitting room Aminat sat and put the briefcase beside her as her husband went to shower, after few minutes he can came back to the sitting room, Aminat stood up to serve the food she prepared for him and they both went to the dinning table. After eating they went to the sitting room to watch BBC news Aminat looked at her husband and said" babe guess what " her husband kept looking at her" I went to the hospital today to do check up and the doctor said I am two weeks pregnant" they were both happy because they had been wanting to have a baby, the husband asked for the gender of the foetus and she said it is girl, they were so happy and they hugged each other, when it was already11:15 they off the television, prayed and went inside to sleep. On Wednesday morning 10:15am , Obiora was inside the sitting room preparing to go to work when he was called at the station for more questioning, he called the managing director of his company that he will be coming late because he was called at the police station, after dropping the call he then called his lawyer to meet him at the police station he went to the police station with his wife. He entered the station and he was told to enter the room where he would be questioned, the police men asked if he knew anything about the missing file or he knows someone that knew about it, he said he knew nothing about it and he has no idea of how it happened. After some minutes the lawyer Mr Idowu arrived, he went to see the D.P.O to discuss about the letter Obiora received to know the next step to take, after an hour they all left the police station together. Chapter 6 After some months Obiora said his wife should stay with his mother till she gives birth because of the stress. Aminat packed some of her clothes and went to stay with her mother-in-law. Mrs Idoka the mother-in-law cooked rice and stew with plantain for her and they ate together with Obiora, in the night when Obiora was leaving his wife and mother escorted him and went back inside to sleep. The following morning Obiora went to office greeted everyone and went straight to his office, he sat on his sofa and prayed, he sorted all files that was on his desk and was at peace. when it was 2:30pm, he went out of the office for lunch at chef Titi's kitchen, he was well attended to, the attendant gave him the menu, he ordered for chicken with jollof rice and salad and he was well served, while eating he noticed some harmful people are around, he ate his food fast and paid thereafter he left the eatery and drove off, when he was driving he noticed a car was trailing him, he drove in another direction and distracted them. He got to work and went straight to his office breathe fast. He sat on his chair thinking about what happened at the eatery, he was deep in thought and did not know when the secretary was knocking, she entered after she knocked for some minutes without any response" the manager said you should see him at his office with impeding alacrity" she said and left the office, Obiora went to the manager's office immediately. Obiora entered the manager's office and said" good afternoon sir, you sent for me" he answered and said yes, the security said you drove reckless while entering the company's compound, hope no problem? Obiora stood while looking at the manager because he has not being offered seat, The manager said" oh sorry, you can have your seat, I was more concerned about the report the security gave me" . Obiora sat on the chair and he explained what happened at the eatery to the manager, the manager advised him to go the police station where he had been reported to tell them about what has been happening, Obiora said he will do what he said and left the manager's office. Chapter 7 Obiora woke up very early in the morning on Saturday to do some house chores, he heard his car making alarm, he went out to know what happened, on his car he saw a letter which the person wrote" This is the beginning and you will suffer for what you have done" he was afraid, went inside to take his car key without changing his cloth, he entered the car and drove off. He got to the police station, he met an officer at the counter and greeted and make a report, he then ask to see the D.P.O, the officer allowed him and he went inside the D.P.O's office, he met him checking a file and greeted" good day sir" he replied and offered him seat, Obiora sat and waited for him to finish his work. After some minutes, he was done, they exchanged greetings once again and Mr saliu asked him the reason why he came to the police station early in the morning, Obiora explained what happened at the eatery and the letter he got that very morning, the D.P.O sent some police officers to check his house, he then advise Obiora to leave the house and be extraordinarily careful and he left the police to his car and drove off. He was in his car driving when he received a phone call from his mother that his wife gave birth to a bouncy baby girl yesterday night and they are still at the hospital, he was extremely happy.He changed his direction and went to the hospital where his wife gave birth, he was singing and dancing while driving to the hospital. He got to the hospital and went inside the ward where his wife gave birth, they all congratulated him he beamed smile and ask for the mother and the baby, the nurses directed him and he went towards the place he was directed, he heard the baby crying, he smiled and entered, he greeted his mother, kissed his wife's forehead and carried the baby, he looked at his baby and said her name will be Chioma, Angel, Zeenat, the baby cried again and he gave the baby to his mother then he went to see the doctor. He entered the doctor's office" good morning sir, my wife gave birth yesterday night and one of the nurses said I should see you" he said, the doctor congratulated him and gave him the child's placenta to bury, he collected the placenta from the doctor and went home to bury it, he buried it at his backyard and went back to the hospital to pick his mother, wife and daughter. He got to the hospital and pick up his family and drove to his mother's house. when they got home Mrs udoka prepared pap for Aminat, she drank it and placed the baby on her bed, after drinking the hot pap, she slept off. Some minutes later the baby started crying, Aminat woke up, carried the baby and breastfeed her, she let the baby and they both slept till around 7:00pm when the mother-in-law woke them up to eat the Amala with ewedu she prepared for them. They all left the sitting room to eat at the dinning table, after eating they went back to the sitting room to digest the food before sleeping. when it was 9:30pm,Obiora switched off the television and led the family in prayer and they all went their various rooms. On monday morning, the mother-in-law bath the baby and Faezat then Obiora was set for work, he couldn't eat because he was late for work and he has to take his daughter to school, Aminat packed their foods and put it inside the car then she went back inside to continue her chores. Obiora took his daughter to school( The brills international school) and took her inside the classroom then dropped her with her teacher, he then left for work. He got to work and and entered his office, sat on his leather chair and prayed, the secretary knocked and entered the office, greeted him and gave him a letter and left, after she left, he opened the letter and read, he was amazed, he used his glasses and read again he beamed smile as has been promoted to the posted to the post of manager. He moved to another office that very moment. Some job seekers came for interview, the secretary called them in one after the other, he interviewed them and said he will call them to know when they will resume. while sitting he said to himself " wow! so I can sit here to interview people and also become manager of this company, thank you Lord" he was still thinking when his sister in-law Rokibat called him to ask about his well-being and his family, they both laugh, she asked about the case, Obiora told her about what has been happening, when his sister-in-law wanted to hang up, he then told her that he has been promoted at his office, she was very happy they talked a bit longer and they hung up. when it was 5:00pm, Chapter 8 He was set to go and pick his daughter from school, he switched off the computer and arranged the files that was on his table then he closed for the day then went out of the office to his car then he drove off. He got to his daughter's school, he met them in a class, he greeted the teacher" Good evening ma weldon, I am here to pick my daughter" the teacher answered him told him to sit at the reception because the school has not closed. Obiora went to the reception, he greeted the receptionist and sat on the wooden chair till it was 5:15 pm when the school prefect rang the bell, he went back to his daughter's classroom to pick her up, they both went inside the car and drove off. He branched a machine store to buy the machines he promised his wife he bought 2 industrial machines, mannequin and stoning machine, he paid then left the shop, he remembered that his wife's old manual machine is not working perfectly, he went back inside the shop to buy the manual machine, he paid then went back inside the car then drove to his mother's house . He drop the child then called his wife out to look at the machines he bought for her, she was very happy seeing the machines then she prayed for him, they all went inside to eat the chicken with jollof rice prepared for them by the grandmother for dinner, they sat on the dinning chair while they were been served later grandma joined them, after eating they discussed then he told them that he has been promoted, they were all happy, the family prayed then went to their various rooms to sleep. Chapter 9 After some years. in the morning around 5:00am Aminat woke up to cook for her husband and children, she packed their foods inside their flasks, when it was 6:00a.m. she wake her children up to bath, while bathing the children the husband was getting ready for work, after bathing the kids, she served their breakfast then they all went to the dinning table to eat the fried egg with break and warm tea then Obiora took his children to school and dropped them in school before heading to his office.Aminat rested at home till 8:45 before going to her shop, she opened the shop and customers are coming in to patronize her. Obiora checked the wall clock it was 5:00pm he closed the files before him he then he signed out and went to pick his children from school .He got to his children's school and went to zeenat's classroom and picked her then he headed to Faezat's classroom he noticed that he did see her, he asked the class teacher about her whereabouts" you sent your younger brother to pick her up in fact we called you and you said we should release her that you will not be able to come pick her yourself, so we already released her, maybe you should call him" the teacher told him, he was dumbfounded, he called his wife to ask weather she sent someone to pick their daughter and she said she did not send anybody to pick up their children. Obiora went to a nearby police station to report, the policemen went to search for the missing child but they could not find her, they told him that they will make findings and find the missing child. He took zeenat and they both went home. He got home and met his wife shattered, he consoled himself and his wife. Chapter 10 Obiora came back from work tired, he sat in the sitting room when his phone rang, it was an unknown number, he picked the call, the person said they are the one that kidn*pped their daughter and they demand for ransom which is a hundred and eighty million dollars, Obiora screamed, the kidnappers ended the call. Obiora got to work the following morning, he entered his office and sat. The secretary came in with a letter and gave him, he opened the letter and saw that it was a sack letter, he was sweating from inside, he asked secretary that what happened that made the company gave him sack letter, the secretary said she did not know that they just ask her to give him and he was ordered to pack all his things and leave immediately, he packed all his things and left the office then they collected the company's car so he went home without car. He went to his wife's shop and told her that he lost his job, they closed the shop and went home. They discussed about their missing daughter's ransom, they concluded that they will sell their properties. Aminat woke up early to bath zeenat because she is going to school, she took her to her new school" The maiden nursery and primary school" but was sent back home due to debt, Aminat was heading back home when she received a call that her shop is burning, she ran to shop. Her neighbours quenched the fire, they were able to carry the machines but all of her customers cloth got burnt. Aminat got to her shop dejected, people tried to console her that everything will be alright and she was taken home. Chapter 11 Aminat was washing cloth outside when Obiora brought buyer for the house and cars, he sold it after negotiating and were told to pack out within months. Aminat went to her shop to pack her machines since she was unable to pay her shop rent . she packed her machines to her mother-in-law's house till she finds buyer for it to be able to pay their daughter's ransom. After some days, Aminat found buyer and sold all her machines except the old one, they sum up all the money and went to the place the kidnappers told them to drop the money, they dropped it and their daughter was released to them then they headed home. Some days after, they packed their belongings to their paternal grandmother's house in the morning, after arranging their baggage, Obiora went out to trim the flowers while trimming the flowers a prayer point dropped in his mind, he went inside the house to pray, he prayed for some hours while praying he fell asleep, he had a dream that he was at a well, he wanted to fetch water inside a bucket a woman appeared with a basket then replaced his bucket with the basket he then woke back to life. He sat trying to understand what dream means he could not comprehend it, the following day he went to church to see his pastor so that he can interpret the dream, the pastor told him to kneel down and they prayed together, God showed him vision after praying he was able to interpret the dream to him, he told him to think about the person he stole his final examination money, he said he has never stole before, the pastor told him to,think very well, Obiora was deep in thought, he reminisced and flash back to when he was in secondary school and his parents could not pay his West Africa Examination Council (WAEC) fee, he stole his best friend's examination fee to pay his own and his friend was unable to do the examination, Obiora told the pastor, the pastor told him after the boy was not able to do the examination, he went in and cried to God and cursed Obiora and God granted his request, Obiora was told to fast for some days and ask God for forgiveness of sin after that he should look for his friend and ask for the forgiveness of sin from him, they both prayed and Obiora went home. Chapter 12 After fasting for fourteen days, he went to his friend's former house but he could not find him, he tried all the means he could get him but it was to no avail he then went back to his pastor to tell him that he could not find him. He met the pastor praying, he sat on a white chair later he joined the pastor in praying, after praying, he told the pastor that he could not find him, the pastor told him to continue praying that he will find him soon then he went home. When he got home his wife told him that her friend has seen a job for her at a restaurant, they will be giving her lunch and #500 per day, he was happy and he said to himself" we have been a liability to my mother and I know I will still take care of her" , the family shared the five cups of rice the mother-in-law prepared, they all went to sleep. The following morning, Aminat told her eldest child Zeenat to bath her younger sister Faezat, then she left for work, a man gave her #20,000 because she resembles his late wife, she bought some foodstuffs out of the money and kept the remaining money with her #500 and went home, she met her husband outside sitting, she sat beside and told him to guess who gave him money, he guessed wrong then she told him who gave her the money and the reason why her money, she prepared the food and they all ate to their satisfaction and they all went to sleep. Obiora started submitting his CV to any company that needs the service he want to render, he submitted to seven different companies, one of the companies called him to do interview, on getting there, it was his friend(the one he stole his money) that wanted to do interview for him, he knelt down cried and confessed his sins to him, he forgave him and prayed for him, he employed him and changed his life, Obiora went back to meet his pastor and gave the church of God money, he took his mother abroad, he built another house, bought a new car, built a big fashion school in the name of his wife and took his children to good school.They live a happy life again.
