Wearing Tae-oh’s jacket over her uniform. It was still too big. Smelled like him. Her halmoni stared. "Whose jacket is that, child?" "Um... a friend's, Halmoni." "A boy friend?" Halmoni’s eyes sparkled. Ji-woo turned red. "No! Just... classmate!" BEEP BEEP. Black car outside. Ji-woo ran out. And there he was. Tae-oh. Driving. In uniform. Hair still wet from shower. Looking like a K-drama poster. He rolled down the window. "Get in. You’re late." "It’s 6:55!" "Exactly. Late." Ji-woo got in. Car was warm. And smelled like him + expensive cologne. Silence. Then Tae-oh handed her a paper bag. "What’s this?" "Bread. You looked hungry yesterday." Ji-woo stared. "You... remembered?" Tae-oh shrugged. "Eat. Or throw it away." She ate. Red bean bread. Her favorite. How did he know?? --- Part 2: SCHOOL CHAOS 7:15 AM. Seoul Arts High Gates. The car stopped. And 200 students saw. Tae-oh. Getting out. With the scholarship girl. From the same car. Phones came out. "What the—" "Is that her??" "President-nim’s girlfriend??" Yuna was at the gate. Her face went white. Then red. Tae-oh didn’t care. Walked in like normal. Ji-woo followed, 2 steps behind. In class, everyone stared. Whispered. Tae-oh sat in front. Didn’t turn around. But pushed a note back to her desk. Ji-woo opened it: Ignore them. Focus. Ji-woo smiled. And focused. Even though her heart was doing flips. --- Part 3: STUDY SESSION After school. Library. "Stay," Tae-oh said. "What?" "Study. With me. You’re behind in Business." "I’m not—" "You are," he cut her. "Chapter 4. Come." So Ji-woo stayed. They sat at a corner table. No one else dared sit near them. Tae-oh was scary smart. Explained everything in 5 minutes. Made notes for her. Neat handwriting. "Here," he said, sliding his notebook to her. "Copy this. It’s better than the textbook." "But this is yours..." "I have another one." Ji-woo copied. Tae-oh watched her. "Why are you so stubborn?" he asked suddenly. "What?" "Yesterday. You didn’t cry in the cafeteria. You didn’t cry when Yuna pushed you. Why?" Ji-woo stopped writing. "Because if I cry, they win." Tae-oh stared at her. For a long time. "...Huh," he said. Then looked away. Ears red. Ji-woo pretended not to see. --- Part 4: SCHOOL FESTIVAL PAIRS 4:00 PM. Student Council Room. "Festival next month," the teacher said. "Pairs project. You’ll run a booth together." Yuna raised her hand. "Can I be with President-nim?" "No," teacher said. "It’s random draw." She pulled names from a box. "Kang Tae-oh..." Everyone held breath. "...and Park Ji-woo!" The room exploded. "WHAT?!" "NO FAIR!" "RIGGED!" Tae-oh didn’t react. Just looked at Ji-woo. Ji-woo wanted to disappear. After everyone left, Tae-oh said: "What kind of booth do you want?" "I... I don’t know. Anything is fine." "Food booth," Tae-oh decided. "You can cook, right?" "Kimchi stew?" Ji-woo asked. Tae-oh paused. "Yeah. That." Ears red again. --- Part 5: JEALOUSY Next day. Hallway. Ji-woo was talking to Min-ho. Class vice-president. Nice guy. "Hey, need help with math?" Min-ho asked. "Yes please! Thank you!" They were laughing. Then a shadow. Tae-oh. Face blank. "Ji-woo. Student Council. Now." Ji-woo flinched. "But—" "Now," Tae-oh repeated. Colder. Ji-woo followed him. In the empty classroom, Tae-oh slammed the door. "Who was that?" "Min-ho? He was just helping me—" "Don’t talk to him." "Why?!" "Because I said so." Ji-woo got mad. "You don’t own me, Kang Tae-oh!" "I know," Tae-oh said. Quiet. Then looked away. "...I just don’t like seeing you with other guys." Ji-woo froze. "What did you say?" "Nothing," Tae-oh said. Face red. "Forget it. Come on. We have to plan the booth." He walked out. Ji-woo stood there. Heart pounding. Did he just... get jealous?? --- Part 6: NIGHT. TEXT. 11:00 PM. Ji-woo’s phone buzzed. Tae-oh: Sorry about earlier. Tae-oh: I shouldn’t have yelled. _Tae-oh: But don’t talk to Min-ho too much. He’s annoying._ Ji-woo laughed. Typed back: Me: Yes, President-nim 😊 Reply: Tae-oh: Don’t call me that. Tae-oh: Call me Tae-oh. Ji-woo stared at the screen. Then typed: Me: Good night... Tae-oh Three dots. Then: Tae-oh: Good night, Ji-woo. Ji-woo hugged her pillow. And fell asleep smiling. Outside, a black car was parked across the street. Watching her window. Until the light went off. --- END OF CHAPTER 2 --- writed by Omahcbeauty THE BREAD!! THE NOTE!! THE "DON'T TALK TO OTHER GUYS"!! THE "CALL ME TAE-OH"!!
