Violetta opened her eyes and squinted at the sunshine streaming in through the open window, she remained in the fetus position on the floor like an old computer waiting to reboot. She rolled over, sat up and looked at the clock. It was after seven.
She flipped the bed covers back and stood, she headed towards the dusty mirror and just like a replay she recalled last night, a new day couldn't replace the horror of last night. And a new day is not something she looks forward to, she just wanted to sleep and not wake up again but her ghost would still be tortured.

She swiped the message from her phone screen, she didn't bother running downstairs as she got about an hour to prepare. She wouldn’t think about Ellen. She was going to pass through this stage, she was going to survive, she has always survived.
Violetta slipped her feet into the only fuzzy slippers she had that was given to her by her Dad, ticking off all the ways to avoid Ellen and stay out of trouble.

Her phone vibrated but she sighed, shaking her head at the thought of who it was. She glanced at the wall clock again after rearranging her room, she had about 45 minutes to be in school. She yanked her old bathrobe off the one legged chair and headed right to the bathroom that looked more hopeless than her room.
"Not now…" She groaned as she shook the weak tap for water.
" Ellen!" Her voice came out with a lump in her throat, that tingling feelings of tears lacing on her eyelids.
She dashed back to the room, her palms sweaty as she knew the consequences of Ellen getting to Dad before she did. With no other choice she took one of the green boxes, brought out a lavender oil perfume to spray on her pulse point.
" Be strong," She smiled to herself.
Violetta unwrapped her new school uniform only to collapse at the sight of it. She blinked, trying to tell herself she was dreaming, her hands trembled as she raised it up for a clearer view. Another round of tears flooded down her eyes, her mouth trembling at the awe she just witnessed.
" No… No…" She sniffed as she used her arms to clean her tears.
" No…No.." She rested her back on the wall to support her weight.
She stared at the man made ridiculously designed and stained uniform in her hands, but with less time on her side she put it on, wore her socks and shoes, placed her phone gently in her bag and left the room. She paused, not taking a step further when she saw the figure that begot Ellen, her stepmother. She greeted them before heading to a secluded area with a single chair and a wooden table. She poked the cereals, as she watched them eat lavishly on the other side of the dining room.
She ate differently from them and it'd been like that for years, as far as she could remember. Violetta has gotten used to it.
" Dad…" Ellen started, her gazed fixed on Violetta.
Violetta didn't raise her head but she could depict her facial expressions, she would have a sinister smile on her face, her eyes would have turned narrow and her red hair now put in a ponytail, she would have readjusted her position to represent the lie she was about to tell.
" I know who left your car in that state" Ellen voice filled the room again, making the tension rise.
Violetta exhaled deeply, shutting her off as she ate the tasteless cereal with indifference.
" Violetta!" The voice was with rage. Violetta slowly raised her head only to meet the furious gaze of her father. She knew that eyes, it was the calm before the storm, the lightening before the thunder.
" Dad " She stood, stepping back as he ventured towards her.
" Where's my car key?" He said with a flying slap that landed straight on the bruises Ellen gave her last night.
" Car key?" Her voice shook, she could see his feet in the air and his head down, she was dizzy again.
" Dad, you should see the way she was drenched in liquor," Ellen added. Violetta's hair was pulled by their father, his hands landing another slap on her soft cheekbones. He dragged her with her uniform to the garage, where the crashed car was parked.
" You this little demon, you have brought nothing but shame to this family" His voice turned cold, his eyes icy and his grip firmed on her neck. He was changing, his hands had turned into claws, the terror was about to be unleashed.
" Joseph " The voice was calling out to her father. It belonged to her Stepmother.
" Kill her…once and for all" She gave a dark chuckle while Violetta struggled to escape the grip of her father.
" You bastard…" He growled, his hands still on her neck. Joseph was almost done with his transformation and though he did it swiftly but everything she saw was in slow motion. His brows furrowed as he deprived her of breath, and she saw his yellows eyes that looked like it was dying from pain when she was the one in hell.
She saw his skull tightening and reshaping, his jaw and face pushing out slowly to make room for his growing teeth. His sprouting of furs, change in muscles, bones popping and cracking.
She watched his face become menaced when his ears swooped back. He was a 6'1 man but his feet got longer and his ankles raised off the ground. He seems to wave then swelled in when fur burst across his whole body and it wasn't with force, it was natural like every powerful werewolf.
But she would be never forget that he was huge, scarier than the devil himself.
" Do you know how much that car cost?" He growled low in his throat as he focused on her like his greatest enemy.
" Dad…" Violetta coughed, her weakling hands trying to get him to stop.
" Dad, she did it" Ellen shouted, extending the coffee cup to her mother.
" Mum… tell." Violetta gasped, fighting to breathe as she felt her throat dried up. Joseph loosen his grip to throw her to the table and pouncing on her. She searched for a compassion in his eyes, but his heart was of hatred for her and he was nothing but a big black wolf hungry for her blood.
" He…lp…" She cried, as she began loosing her voice. She closed her eyes, wishing off the pain and as she saw the devilishly grin from Ellen, she knew it was her that bashed the car.
" Joseph…" though the voice was faint, the owner was standing next to her almost lifeless body - her stepmother. Violetta reached for her legs to stand but she shifted, making her face kissed the ground.
" Just let her go…" She stroked Joseph's fur, Violetta watched him slowly transformed back to his human form, but his shirt was stained with her blood and his designer clothes tattered beyond words. She wriggled put his hold to catch her remaining breath.
" We still need her alive…" she said, swaying her lips as she and Joseph took the staircase.
Ellen crouched to Violetta's height, her hands fiddling with Violetta scattered hair. She cupped her cheeks to make her focus on her, her grip on Violetta jaw hardened as she used her other hand to pull her hair back, showing the domineering power she possessed. With a funny smile, Ellen spat on Violetta's face before dusting her body to leave for school.
Ellen headed towards the door, swinging her headphone and when she got to the door, she placed her hands on the doorknob but didn't open the door. She instead walked back to the dining table where Violetta laid, picked her cup of coffee sipped it.
Ellen rested her left hand on her hips, standing slightly like a supermodel. She sipped the coffee again, let it slide off her hands to Violetta's body, the hot coffee scarring her and the cup giving her bruises.
"Oops' Ellen chuckled, kicking Violetta in the stomach before leaving her to mourn her pitiful self on the cold ground.
Violetta stayed in that position for a while, before instructing every muscle in her to move. She crawled to the dining table's leg, holding it to support her now bruised body. She exhaled deeply as she placed one foot in front of the other. She didn't know if it was the pain afflicted on her that broke her heart or who afflicted it.
She should run as she was late for school, but instead she calmly straightened her uniform when she entered the guest bathroom. She stared at her reflection that she almost ran away, there was nothing good to sight in her body but what was worse was her disarrayed mind screaming for help any moment it got.
Violetta opened the tap, waited for a while as if scared of the water. She splashed water on her face for a while, took off her uniform to place it in the washing machine before sitting to clean her bruises. She looked at the bathroom, her eyes unconsciously noting everything down to distract her troubles mind.
" Mother…why did you bring me to this world and left me in care of a…" She cried, gulping her saliva down her throat.
" Why did you leave me in care of…a monster" She sobbed harder.
She knew she promised herself she wouldn't cry again, she would escape, she would survive and find someone to love her but here she was, almost naked with bruises and crying her soul out.
The sound from the washing machine jolted her out of her thoughts, she stood staring at her now better reflection. She wore her uniform and smiled to the mirror when her subconscious mind consoled her.
" It is only a matter of time " She said to her reflection in the mirror.
She limped to the dining table but stopped in front of the staircase, her father and his wife were still upstairs. Looking at the streets and the thought of the distance she was about to trek made her eyes laced with tears. The distance was about some kilometers away from Southgate high school.
Ding Ding
She looked down at her phone, it was Taylor her best friend asking after her. Maybe someone cares about her after all, she thought. She limped, forcing herself to walk faster but she knew it was futile. But what if she walked faster it would just an hour late and might be pardoned.
With this, she stormed off, not minding the traffic rule. She wasn't afraid, a car hitting her would just be helping her in escaping from this life as a whole.
Violetta stopped in front of a Southgate high school, didn't wait for the security to let her in before running past them like flash and into the hall that led to her classroom she went.
Violetta gently turned the doorknob, sneaking in and was about to sit when she stopped, it occurred to her they have been watching her all along. She blinked innocently at the teacher in front of the board before awkwardly taking a sit next to Taylor.
" Jeez" Taylor mumbled, her eyes gauging out of her socket as it examined Violetta's swollen body and bruises.
" Who in the world did this to a poor child?" Taylor's face softened as she sniffed the tears back in. Violetta eyes fell on Ellen whose sit was at the other corner, she carried on with her activities like she wasn't in the same house with her.
" How does she manages to look sweet despite her evil?" Taylor asked, throwing her slender arms round Violetta's neck.
" Part of her special powers" Violetta found herself saying with a shrug.
" Well I don't want that kind of power" Taylor face turned sour at the sight of Ellen. She looked at Ellen, wanting to take that smile of her stupid face. She exhaled, wishing she was in Violetta's shoe and Ellen being her sister. The thought of hanging Ellen upside down while she begged for help made her forget about the stupid boy she was crushing on.
" What's better than crushing someone with your bare hands?" Taylor said out loud, warranting hard glares from everyone including the teacher.
" Ok, back to covalent bonding please" The teacher clapped to gain back everyone's attention. Violetta gently slapped Ellen on the back, not forgetting to give her the " I know what you were thinking" look.
" Miss Violetta to the principal office now!" A thunderous voice spoke, bringing Violetta back to her senses.
" Mr. Philip…" Violetta stood immediately, her hands behind her as she became aware of her surrounding. She was sleeping in the class again.
She looked down at Taylor who gave her a sorry look immediately.
" Now!" Mr. Philip roared, his fingers pointing to the door. Violetta looked at the mixed race average tall man before heading for the door.
" Now, we move to dative bonding" She heard him lectured as she closed the door behind her.
