10 DECEMBER 2017 Emily cursed her over-the-knee boots as she stepped off the bus. It was the first time she was wearing them, and although the heels were only small, the balls of her feet were already aching. Although in her head she wanted to deny it, she knew she was trying to impress Rowan, who looked suitably affected when she descended the steps in front of him. He also looked cold, which implied that he had been standing at the bus stop for some time. “Where are we going?” Emily asked as they set off towards a row of houses.
