Xavier was shocked the moment he heard the words from Bruce.
“My wife?” He had just gotten out of prison, and the first thing he received was news that the Reynolds had his wife.
“Don’t worry, Mr. Garcia. I will free her from their hands. Trust me.”
“But it’s the Reynolds that we are talking about, Kind Sir. They own almost half of the properties in this City.”
“Well, that’s about to change.” Bruce chuckled confidently, but Xavier had lost almost every form of faith in men ever since he was betrayed by his own family.
The look on the middle-aged man’s face expressed intense despair, and Bruce was moved to speak at once.
“I know that feeling, Mr. Garcia. I also knew that amount of pain while I was in prison. But trust me, nothing prepares you for life more than tough challenges.”
Xavier couldn’t quite understand what Bruce meant, but he knew that those words were going to be needed soon.
The moment they got to the gate that was standing about thirty feet tall, Xavier became anxious while struggling with the skepticism that had overshadowed him.
“Can this man really save Lena?” He thought to himself while still trying to remember where he met his savior from.
“I think it’s best you wait here. I promise not to be back until your wife is free.”
“Wait!” Xavier grabbed Bruce’s hands as soon as he made a move to get out of the car.
“How about my daughter, Aria? Do you know where she is?”
“She is safe, Mr. Garcia. You will see her soon.”
Xavier sighed heavily. Bruce’s utterances made his anxious look disappear while he watched as he walked through the gate like he owned the whole place.
Sauntering his way through the avenue that led to the mansion, Bruce observed every corner that he set his eyes on, and he could tell that there was something unusual about the quietness in the premises.
Even though the Reynolds were no longer as influential as they used to be, that didn’t mean that they could no longer afford to pay the numerous bodyguards who loitered all over the place, waiting eagerly to deal with any intruder who dared to get into the vicinity.
“I couldn’t believe it when I was told that you were back!” A resonating voice said from the balcony of the mansion, and Bruce looked up to see who it was.
“Lord Reynold.” He shook his head as soon as he recognized Lucas’ Grandfather William Reynolds, a retired politician who spent his years in office acquiring properties that belonged to the poor.
His entire weight was leaning on the walking stick he was holding onto, and it was almost as if his wrinkles were a design by an artist, yet he wanted more power.
“You shouldn’t have laid your hand on my Grandson, Bruce! You are no longer the man you used to be, Bruce!”
“Oh, I am way better now, Lord Reynolds! Trust me!” Bruce tried to keep his voice loud enough to get to the ears of the old man who scoffed in doubt at his words.
“Lucas may have embarrassed me so much by letting you beat him to a pulp, but I am going to enjoy ending the Spencer Dynasty.”
Bruce sniggered, he had been hearing a lot of funny things since he came back to the City.
“I would have loved to see you try, Lord Reynold. But I am here for someone you are holding captive.”
Almost immediately Bruce was done speaking, Donald and his daughter Stacy appeared beside William, and it wasn’t long before Lucas limped to join them.
His head and some other parts of his body were covered with bandages and plaster, enough evidence that Bruce really dealt with him.
He exchanged glances with his Grandfather, but the old man was deeply ashamed of him.
“I see that the Beckhams ran to you for safety, Lord Reynold.” Bruce chuckled.
It was funny how Donald and Stacy were still wary of him after what they saw him do to Lucas who couldn’t even utter a word.
“I need you to release the person I am here for, Lord Reynold! Do this and you don’t have to be worried about losing your little empire!”
It was obvious that Bruce was sounding a warning to William, but he had become so much intoxicated with power that he failed to recognize supremacy.
“You’ve got some balls, young man!” William gave a signal, and two bodyguards appeared with Aria’s mother.
“This is the woman you are here for, right?” William pointed at Lena who was trembling like a leaf.
Bruce was angry at how unkempt she was. Her hair was tangled and looked like they had not been combed in a very long time, an obvious sign that she had been turned into a slave by the Reynolds.
“I heard of the nuisance you carried out at Marco’s place. Now you think you can come here and do the same just because you were able to get away with that.”
William grabbed Lena by her neck, and forcefully pulled her close to himself while he maintained a sinister smile on his face.
Bruce maintained his composure even though William was obviously trying to get on his nerves. He watched as the poor lady whimpered in pain while her unstable breath continued to quiver.
“Do you like that?! Huh?!”
“Let her go, Lord Reynold! This is your final warning!”
“Why don’t you come get her yourself? The door is wide open!” William gave a signal to the guards standing behind him, and they bowed and left at once.
It wasn’t long before more guards started to appear from different hidden corners of the vicinity, but Bruce already knew what was about to happen.
“Let’s see if you will be able to escape from this one!” William dragged Lena back into the building and his cohorts joined him at once.
They were very confident that there was no way Bruce was going to be able to beat up the thirty-seven men who were charging at him, and they were eager to have him brought to them in bruises.
“We are going to eat you up, boy!” One of the guards who was eager to pounce on Bruce grimaced, his breath reeking of overconfidence.
“Boys?! Get this loser!” He ordered and the attempt to subdue Bruce began.
