Chapter two

1735 Words
Kimberly’s POV   I woke to the sound of my alarm ringing. The same sound every morning letting me know to get my ass out of bed. I jumped out of bed and stretched my body. I was still sore from yesterday just like I always was. I walked to the kitchen to start the coffee machine before I jumped in the shower. Just like I always did.  I closed my eyes as the hot water hit my skin as I tried my best to scrape off whatever was left of him on my body. Yesterday one of my regulars decided that it was time for something new. Something that for him was exciting but for me was a sight I’d never forget.  The way his hand roamed my body, the way he used the tools he had brought with him, brought back a time in my life I still to this day fought to forget. A day that changed me to become who I was today. “I’m paying you to do so,” was what he had said and of course I had to oblige. My madame was very strict and reminded of us the rules of being in her house every single day.  Rule number one: Always do as the customer wants, no saying no and no but’s, unless it crosses a line within the contract.  Rule number two: Speak only when spoken to.  A very important rule that didn’t only apply to when being around her but applied to the customers as well.  Rule number three: Never talk back.  And last, but not least, rule number four: Know your place.  If any of those rules were to be broken, it was out, and I could not afford that. Not now at least.  The beeping sound from the coffee machine let me know that my coffee was done brewing which meant that my shower time was over. I dried my body and put on my joggers and a t-shirt before I made my way to the kitchen.  “Good morning Kimmie,” Cherry smiled as she skipped through the kitchen.  “Someone is in a good mood today,” I smiled.  “The man I was with yesterday doubled my pay for my good service and company,” she clapped.  “That is good,” I said as I brought the cup to my lips trying to avoid further conversation.  Don’t get me wrong, I loved Cherry with all my heart. She was one of my most trustworthy friends here, which is something you don’t get very easily around here, but she could talk an ear off, and she always seemed to ask all her questions at the wrong time, and it wouldn’t surprise me if now was one of those times.  “How was your night?” she asked as she opened the fridge.  There it was. So predictable.  I sighed as I put the cup down while trying to erase the image of yesterday from my mind.  “It was… eventful,” I said with a fake smile.  “Good pay?” “Decent,” I shrugged.  “Sorry,” she apologized half smiling. “Today will be better.” “I hope,” I sighed.  But hope was only a four-letter word. There was only so much it could do and knowing today’s schedule, nothing big would come out of it.  I knew it was to be a long day, it always was. But today was a day filled with the regulars and regulars meant a steady fee which I couldn’t complain about. “I’ll talk to you later, eh?” she said before running out.  I shook my head at her enthusiasm for this job. If only I could be like that.  But I couldn’t and I also knew why.  I wasn’t here because I wanted to. I was here because I needed to. It, in my case, was called being left with no choice. It’s not that I couldn’t go get another job, because I could. I had the first half of my law degree and that could open a door that led to a lot of possibilities for me if only I had the full education. But that required money. Money that I went from having to suddenly stand without. Money that was also spent on something more important to me than my education.  The thought of it made me realize that I had to go visit her soon and check-in with the nurse that the upcoming bills were paid for.  Working for Millionaire match at least gave me that. The money to ensure that my mother got the care she needed. To the outside world, we had been enlisted as a high society dating service, which in some ways we were. In other ways, we were nothing more than girls bending over a table or sucking c**k for a living.  I wasn’t in the standing to complain. I got a roof over my head, food on the table, and clothes to wear. Technically, I got what I needed.  My mom always told me as a child ‘what you want and what you need is not necessarily the same and with that, she was right. As much as I didn’t want to live like this, right now, it was what I needed. It was what I had to. If it hadn’t been for MM I would have still been on the streets and my mom would have been dead.  My thoughts were interrupted by my phone’s nonstop ringing at the table.  “Yes?” I said as I picked it up not bothering to look at the caller ID.  “Is that the way you speak to everyone when picking up the phone?” Madame Elenore huffed. “I sure hope not.” “Sorry,” I quickly apologized. “I didn’t…” “Enough of that,” she interrupted. “I need you to get to my office as quickly as possible,” she said before hanging up. I stared at my phone not really knowing what to do. My first client was in 45 minutes and there was no way I could make it there and back in that short amount of time. However, I knew I had to go. Her, calling you, could only mean one of two things. Either she got you a new client or you screwed up and you get fired.  I grabbed my bag and jacket and head for the door before I could even think twice about it. The closer I got to the office, as she called it, the more nervous I got. I hadn’t broken any rules. Or at least I didn’t think I had.  I knocked on the door and waited for permission to enter.  “Come in,” her hoarse voice spoke.  “You wanted to see me?” I asked as I peeked through the door almost choking on the cloud of smoke that escaped the creek in the door.  “Yes, shut the door behind you please,” she said as she put out her cigarette.  Please? That was a new word to hear coming from her. I put it aside and took a seat in front of her desk.  “I have a job for you,” she smirked as she flipped through some papers, and I could feel my heart settling down a bit. “Honestly I wouldn’t have chosen any of you for this considering that this is high profile job, but you were the only one fitting his descriptions to perfection and I didn’t want to let this opportunity pass by.” “Okay,” I said slowly as I tried to ignore the emerging feeling of wanting to punch her in the face.  “This man, Mr. Wallace, is a very and when I say very, I mean a very important man,” she said as she handed me a file. “He wants someone discreet, someone smart, and someone who knows her way around a high society gathering which is exactly where you fit in. Or at least you used to,” she shrugged.  The mentioning of my previous activities in the high society made me gulp. I hadn’t been back there for some time… Not since… “What is the job about exactly?” I asked nervously interrupting my own thoughts before they got the better of me.  I had heard of Mr. Wallace from the other girls. Some of them had been hired as his escort for a night in the past, while others still dreamed of it. Me, not so much.  “His mother is the host of New York’s charity week,” she began, and my eyes widened. “He needs you as his date for the upcoming events during that week and he is paying a great amount for it. It will be your biggest job so far.” “The whole week?” “Yes,” she nodded. “However, he would like to meet with you Friday instead of Sunday, to go over the plan.” “What about my regulars?” I asked.  “Sharon will take them,” she said as she waved me off. “Don’t worry about such things,” she said as she got up. “Now I have acquired a new wardrobe for you while being at this assignment along with jewelry and other necessaries. Treat them well, they are rented so they need to be turned back here in the same condition as they were given to you,” she said with a stern face.   “Of course,” I nodded. “If I may ask, what will the payment be?” “200.000 dollars,” Madame Elenore grinned. “Which means that you will be getting 60.000 of them so, you better be at your best behavior, understood?” “Of course,” I said wide-eyed.  60.000 dollars could make sure that I paid ahead on my mother’s bills. I could even move out of the damn escort house and get my own place.   “That is all for now, I will call you back in for when you need to get the mandatory tests done.” She dismissed me without further due and I knew I had to save the rest of my questions for later.
